redshift factor wrote:Yeah, that policy is starting to look a lot better.
However, it still leaves owners of just one Amplitube product who want MIDI control out in the cold.

I must say that IKMM's logic that X-GEAR is a "new product" is faulty though. By their own admission it is just functionality that was going to be included in a future update, and they cannot sell X-GEAR as a standalone product. It is of absolutely no use to anyone who doesn't own at least one supported Amplitube product already, and then all it does is provides them with the MIDI capabilities that should have been there to start with.
Well, you can't always please everyone. The midi functionality is tied to all of the other cool features of it. That's just the way it is offered. Maybe IK will be nice and let Ampeg SVX users also have it for free, maybe JH users too at least for the launch of it. All I know is that if any of you peeps are thinking about getting any of those products just think of Squids and the Gang over at www.esoundz.com ;)

I think the point of X-Gear is for people to be psyched about it. Yeah the midi control part is cool but the expandability part is even cooler and that requires a purchase of more than one AT powered product (good thing there's a crossgrade discount!). How about focusing on how freakin' cool it is for a change?

since it's on my mind, there is one thing that has always bugged me about all of my AT stuff........the metronome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is there any way you could put me in touch, or relay, or anything that this piercing "uber brain damage" click can be changed......or and option to replace.......etc?

just wondering
I guess so. Metronome clicks are not on the top of the list for me though. I think there's some kind of suggestion box on the IK site somewhere though.

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhh!! Now that's more like it!

Smart move IKMM...Things are looking better and better. :D :D :D

@redshift factor: The users of Amplitube2 only will get it for free (for a limited time that nobody knows when it ends)

Although I find it funny that a person registerd on KVR just to post this message.

PR Stunt? :hihi:

And what is this about Amplitube 2.5??????????!!! :hyper: :hyper:

I would be pleased and really psyched if X-GEAR introduced drag and drop rearranging to the stomp boxes! Yeaaaaahhhh!!

It's a real creativity killer having to interrupt your workflow and manually recreate all your settings for your stomps just because you decide to stick a distortion pedal between your wah and your flanger, or if you want see how swapping the order of your phaser and chorus would sound.

redshift, agree 100% on this one. Maybe a later version of AXG. Since it is not tied in code wise to any of the other applications, this one can evolve seperatly to add this functionality.

Now Squids, where is that IKMM feature request box at? :)

Is there an ETA on when the demo will be available for the metal edition? I played with the AT2 demo for the two weeks or whatever, and while I *could* get good sounds out of it, it wasn't enough to retire my POD. :)
Remember the iLokalypse Summer 2013

Samples and presets and free stuff!

No, not a PR stunt!

When trying to find out more about Amplitube X-GEAR after its announcement, I ran across a number of posts here on KVR regarding same, which seemed to confirm to me that IK was going to charge for X-GEAR. Finally, last evening I contacted IK via their web site and got a response today (as posted). Based upon IK's response, I was encouraged and felt that perhaps sharing it here (where it was discussed at length) might help clarify matters.

To do so, I needed to register (although I have read a number of posts over the last few months on KVR, I've never had the need to post to any of the forums).

I can assure you that I am simply a regular IK customer (no other affiliation) using a registered copy of Amplitube Live that came with my StealthPlug. I have been looking seriously at the Amplitube2, JHE and Ampeg products as well (hence my interest in X-GEAR).

For me personally, IK's willingness to make X-GEAR available at no additional cost upon the 2nd registered Amplitube product removes a very big impediment/obstacle to me purchasing any of these additional products. IK's stance is very encouraging to me.
Regards,

David O'Hearn

I actually have to practice, so it's been kinda high on mine. Was kinda hoping I wasn't the only one who bothered by it.

I didn't see suggestion box on the web site, but I'll keep looking......thanks.

I find it even funnier (and telling of forum pack mentality) that if there's one voice of reason in a sea of grumpy Eeyores, surely it must be a company plant!

I'm slightly confused (not for the first time)
in their email to dohearn, IK Multimedia wrote: AmpliTube X-GEAR will be provided free of charge to any registered user of two or more "powered by AmpliTube" products. So as an AmpliTube 2 Live user, you would automatically receive X-GEAR upon registering any other AT product.
From its website http://www.ampegsvx.com/Main.php?prod-AM.php and from the AmpegSVX info page, AmpegSVX is definitely "Powered by AmpliTibe" so it would be part of the free X-Gear offer too.

{Yep, I've got AT2 and AmpegSVG registered here ;) }

Was it ever stated that AmpegSVX does not boost your free X-Gear eligibility? I take "two or more registered 'Powered by AmpliTube' products" to mean any combination of AT1, AT1Live, AT2, AT2Live, AmpegSVX, AT:JH and AT:Metal. They are all PbAT products and they can all be registered.

just so you know, that at least most of what I would use X-Gear for: midi control and adding more modules to my AT2, came with Guitar Rig 2 and GearBox with the expander modules lonnnnnnggggg ago.....the way it is painted here by some it is almost like X-gear is something revolutionary.....
by the way does X-gear read presets from the other Amplitube stuff or we have to recreate the presets if all we want to do is add midi controls to some of our presets?

You're right it is not necessarly revolutionary. What we are excited about is that a lot of people was waiting for the MIDI functionality, and now we have that, and also a standalone host for IKMM powered by Amplitube plugins, for free (*certain conditions apply :) ).

Good question! I would assume not, and that you would have to re-create your presets and save them in AXG. But Squids can bring clarifications to that item.

What really is the question now is, what the heck is AMplitube 2.5? :)

Post

:-) but on page 11 squid said this:
Yes, the components are swappable!!!! So the amount of guitar combinations goes up exponentially to almost infinity. That's why I sit here in awe of it all (being a gearhead in fantasyland having asked for this for YEARS and it is finally happening).

To me X-Gear is possibly one of the coolest systems for any effect plug EVER! It's like a plug-in within a plug-in kind of system and I just LOVE it because you can customize your virtual set up and save PATCHES that call it all up just how YOU like it.

It's the way to go man. The gear you'd have if you had all of them? AT2, Ampeg, Hendrix and Metal is a DREAM set up! What a collection of virtual gear... no maintenance, no battery acid leaks, no smell (haha... we forgot that gear also sometimes smells... but sometimes that's also good)... no lugging all that stuff around.
you could have sworn that IK figured out how to finally put a man on the man, for real this time ;)
