Drummies.

Yes, this month we're going to have a finger drumming tutorial although we do have some stuff already on this page: www.oceanwaydrums.net/videos.php and also on www.sonicreality.tv - you can also watch some of the Drum Masters sessions there!

Sure, the names were posted here as well, I just can't find the sound examples for all of them.

I'm doing new demos of each of them so you have a demo for each kit. I'll have that done by Monday. Some of the best sounding kits in this don't even have demos yet. So if you like what you hear so far... it's only going to get better than you might expect.
That's great. Might i suggest that you make them available for download (at least for the people buying the product). Then there is a quick way of auditioning the drums before loading the whole library. Nevertheless, when i get the drums, i will render an audio example of each kit, with the same MIDI pattern in each, just for myself for easy reference.

That's a great idea! I wish I was smart enough to think of these kinds of things!

A fine idea, yes, but what about this snare with that kick or this ride with that floor tom etc ad infinitum!! :D That is a LOT of audio examples...

I know. You make a good point, but at least this is something. Between all the drums I have, I get confused.

Thanks reverend :)

And yes, it will be a simple set of examples - it is only meant to quickly get the feel of which kit would work. Only for the basic kit configs.

I haven't used OWD because I'm waiting for the group buy stuff, but my experience with Jamstix is that it makes any midi drum performance more realistic because it has so many features built in to do just that. The features of the Infinite Player will see to it that the samples sound realistic by using alternate hits and round robin and detailed sample layers.

Assuming you find Jamstix in general to be convincing I can't think of any reason that the OWD wouldn't make it more so (in comparison to the stock Jamstix kits).
Cool! That would be my expectation as well (I've used Jamstix with Battery and some other virtual-analog VST drum synths). I'll just expect to spend some time mapping the various non-GM features of Jamstix to maybe the iMap versions of OWD and hope for the best :)

Hmmm. Okay, maybe what I'll do is a very short demo for each kit on the Drum Masters 2 side that has a few fills in it too so you can hear the overall sound of the kit quickly to decide if that's the drum sound you want to load. That can act as an overall demo for people wanting to know what each kit sounds like when they buy but also useful after you bought it if we make it available to download for "pre-auditioning" before loading. This has come up before and actually it's something we were working on for sound effects (because we have a sound effects workstation with hundreds of thousands of sounds and quick auditioning is helpful) but it's pretty good for just about everything. I think we'll try to do that for as many things as possible starting with the kits in this group buy. How does that sound?

Well, that is true. Part of the fun is making your own kit combinations but then if you like this idea you can take some of the killer MIDI GROOVES that come with the package... oh wait, I should use these demos to also show what the awesome midi grooves in the bundle sound like as well. Wheels turning here. Anyway, what I was going to say is that you could use the midi grooves or just play it yourself for any kit you make and save it back in your "pre-audition" archive if you like that way of working. I think it makes a lot of sense and I may do that. It requires a bit of organization on each person's part to quick audio demos of their custom kits for themselves and of course it's totally optional... but the benefits are BIG!

Plus, we'll do something fun after this group buy that I thought of. So, between the different kit pieces, built-in effects, convolution spaces there are pretty much an INFINITE amount of hybrid kit combinations that can be made right? Well, how about a kit contest (kit kontest? Don't worry... I won't call it that!!!!). All the users from this Group Buy can make their own custom kits and it is SUPER easy and we'll show you how. Then we'll gather them all up and let EVERYONE in the Group Buy have those presets (they are small because they are just NKM files) and THEN we'll vote for which ones were the overall favorites. The top 10 kits out of however many are made will be 10 prizes of $50 in epointz each (that's credit on the site). You can make as many kits as you want to be entered into the contest but you can only win once and then it goes to the next popular kit's creator down the list.

I think that will be fun, it will get everyone used to how the product works in that way and... well, everyone will benefit from tons of hybrid kit patches ad infinitum. ;)

What do you think of that idea? Up for a challenge?
