If you count hidden registry entries, registry scanning, filesystem scanning, host file changes, file deletions, home calling, exit windows ex calls and possible many others, then the answer is yes. But if you think this is normal, then no..BFunKu wrote:There really was Spyware in the software? That's 100% True?

Exactly my feelings. Treat me well and I'll shout your praises from the highest mountain. I can't count how many times I've praised Urs Heckman or the fellows from Camelaudio. I'm not a 14 year old "hater" who just lashes out to get back at his parents, but I'm not going to candy coat the issue. I feel that releasing ElectraX with no special pricing is a jerky move. I say this even though I probably wouldn't even qualify for special pricing for it anyway, as my license of Gladiator 2 is second-hand.bmanic wrote:This is exactly it.Echoes in the Attic wrote:To put it in perspective though, do ever see this kind of sentiment towards Camel Audio or U-He or Rob Papen many others? One would be extremely ignorant and naive if you think it's a general fault of KvR for all the negative backlash towards Tone2.
Look how it was for Image-Line 3 or 4 years ago? Same thing, although a bit milder but for generally the same reasons. Now Gol has toned down his comments and stopped being so aggressive towards genuinely good and sincere feature suggestions and bug reports. People are also responding accordingly.
Cheers!

Though I am NOT going to buy it, I see no reasons for any harsh comments. GUI questions aside, I hear a fine synth with a very clean and distinctive sound. I can not bash it for being on the "bigger, fatter, brighter" discourse because that would also include ACE, DUNE, MorphoX, Sawer, Harmless and Xils 3, IMO, and they are great.
My reason for not buying it is quite personal. It is simply because Tone2's very distinctive digital "sound" does not fit into my otherwise analog emulated and VA type of sound. I have owned Firebird for more than a year now and unfortunately it has never made it to a track for exactly that reason.
ElectraX is a stunning piece of work, though, and whether people like it or not, Tone2 makes synths with a very unique and nontrivial sound.
Hope it will make you a living, Tone2.

I'm actually enjoying ElectraX. I for one really like the sounds I'm getting, easy layering, nice filter and drive options, and although I am not crazy about the GUI it's not that bad to work with at all. I prefer a simple 2d one. I found some of the buttons on the current GUIs a bit confusing, like I wasn't sure if stuff was on or off.

My DAW has always been disconnected from the net till two months ago, and Tone2 products worked without problems, never asked to access the net (only when clicking to the Tone2 logo to access the "info box").zerocrossing wrote:100% not true.MaxSynths wrote: Concerning the spyware thing it's something that has been discussed and solved here (it was only a case of paranoid)

But to consistently hammer on the same thing over and over again--to continually keep on arguing over the same deal a few years later?
To my mind it really does not make sense to keep battling the same "Demon" Other every time something is posted about it. Is Markus another DSK? No, so why get into an existential fit over him?

by my side my first impression is a bit mitigated, it obviouly offers a vast palette of synthesis methods but the overall preset library seems often similar to what has been already created with gladiator, not the huge step forward that i first imagined
But to be fair, i should have dig deeper inside it synthesis potentials, so...

In case you didn't already see, the solution was posted in this thread by Tone2. See this post: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 14#4335714 on page 12.sopor79 wrote:@maxSynths..I also think so....
I also have the "keyfile-problem". Yesterday I bought the synth- till now no keyfile. ShareIt is not really helpful...
But this is no reason for me for such hate and bad words...verry negative atmosphere here...
I went through the same procedure earlier and got my download links and keyfile in minutes.

I guess tastes differ a little. To me, the preset library is absolutely awesome and huge. I haven't really had time to audition all the patches, but I can understand it being compared to the Nexus previously in the thread; for me it just seems to have that level of polish for those kinds of productions. With Gladiator, it was the complete opposite experience for me; I couldn't seem to find any useful presets at all, and I found the synthesis awkward (although I've never been much of a sound designer), so I didn't upgrade Gladiator to 2 (probably would if it was cheaper), and usually don't even bother to install Gladiator 1 when I upgrade my DAW.Krakatau wrote:by my side my first impression is a bit mitigated, it obviouly offers a vast palette of synthesis methods but the overall preset library seems often similar to what has been already created with gladiator, not the huge step forward that i first imagined

I really like the shipped presets, and am excited to see what other people can do with this sonically, as I really like being able to buy sound sets.
BTW, my other "go to" VSTi is Alchemy. I'm waiting for x64-support (which ElectraX has) for Alchemy, Zebra and ACE (which I all really like). I also have Komplete 7 "in the mail", so it'll be fun to fill out the sonic image with the stuff from Native Instruments, but they seem to have a very different focus from what ElectraX delivers.
PS: I liked the UI in screenshots, not so much in the actual plugin. It seems a little coarse to me, but I guess it's a matter of getting used to and taste.
Just wanted to share my feelings and brief experiences with the plugin.

I like ElectraX. Sounds are very good. Many different features.
I feel the price being no different than most others is fair.
The 10 minutes demo is fine, it's the same in Zebra as well.
I would have 2 suggestions though.
Changing the 3D knobs to all follow one perspective. Shorten their depth of perspective also.
Do not access the web in demo mode, but instead, put a nag screen up, with a link to the manual, and a link to the website on it.
It will simply annoy the potential customer. Giving them access to the manual, might help develop their interest more, in the product.
I would buy this.
(except for the problem of having no money atm, to do so)
