Eureka! I made final deconstruction of your 2-notes file and using old and proven method of sequential exclusion in MIDI Events List editor I finally found "bad string" - it's the first one with... text information (name of track and name of arranger with copyright note
Very funny indeed

Another one of those embarrassing bugs! Thank you, Dennis for uploading the files!
A new beta is being built with the fix.
I'll post here when it is uploaded.
I am sorry...

I had a feeling it was likely non midi events causing the problem.
So who is the magician now?
Good job finding the problem!
Since you have solved your issue I will delete all copies I have created.
Glad to hear you solved it tolstoevsky!
I must also mention, please be careful with copyright works
Happy Musiking!

No need to be sorry. I like it much more when you smile
Besides, if other devs would take a lesson from you....can you imagine how much smoother software would work for everyone?
You're the best Attila!

I'm wondering if it was Sysex events causing the problem or text lines, or maybe both?

Actually the very long track name caused the crash.
The new update (v2.56b5) is uploaded now!
Thanks for all the help

I am 100% sure that Attila could quickly find the problem without our amateur help,
but anyway it's cool to detect it even without his examination
But indeed it's your nice decompilation work, Dennis, which gave such easy result
Now I will try to check some other problematic midis in search of similar glitches.
And I will give my best shot in order to check all hidden copyright bombs and long track names

normally i directly - no mercy - clear all this messages before import ...
i tested and definitely it wasn't Sysex it was Text Events
removing only test events fixed the crash.
ok ok today my destiny to being too late

yellukhan,
Not saying it is but that looks like it could be a graphics card problem. Attila will know better than I.
FWIW, I had a similar problem with graphics (other software though) not showing correctly, once before, and it turned out to be a graphics card. The issues became progressively worse over a short time.
Once the card was replaced all graphics display related problems disappeared.

EDIT: Oh, yes, aptly named

When I modified the chord palette I changed something that I should not have.
I don't know what to say...
