Still gonna buy it if they do the deal for all their customers and not just geist/dcam users.

Oh and FXPansion really need some proper programmers for the factory content, most of it is horrid (Ignore it and just go sequence/synth yourself ;) )
+1

The factory presets are very poor and yes, the CPU usage is off the charts for a drum synth. My initial hour and a half with the demo made me think that it's so much nicer looking than MicroTonic but MicroTonic sounds much better, has much better presets and uses a heck of a lot less CPU power. Tremor's sequencer is much better than RP-Punch but again I'm not sure about the factory presets as Rob Papen has done a wonderful job with Punch's library. There's nothing in here that makes me go wow except for the odd sine-based kick.

At the same time I'm going to give it a good few hours of additional demoing tonight and report back.

Won't have time to try it till later the day, but I hope it can replace most of my ultrabeat duty.

Almost a shame that the sequencer, as nice as it looks will be the last thing I need

It's based on the Synth Squad engine so that'll explain the high CPU.

I like it!
I too discovered the demo early and It's intuitive and fun to use. It's not as cute as uTonic which I still Love but it's more my taste than Punch, which sounded good but I hated the workflow. So I've bought.

Lets not forget its V1 too.

Demo is offically up.

Tremor is definitely all about the deep DCAM transmod modulation. Don't just do basic subtractive synthesis with it. Remember the effects parameters can all be modulated as well, and by musical-phrase-long graphs (stick a really large tempo divider on the graphs), and make sure you explore the note probability.

A more indepth exploratory video is going up on You Tube in a few minutes...

Nice! Thanks! I just wanted to read the manual but I guess I'll watch the video first than since your videos are usually quite nice :)

Tutorial video is up.

17mins long, but quicker than R'ing TFM.

Getting to grips with the modulation system is essential. We simplified it a little from the one in Synth Squad - should be easier to get started with. Suggest that you start off with the Fast & Slow envelope sources (to control the initial attack transient & the longer evolution of the sound) & then use velocity to make it evolve.

Geist & Synth Squad owners get the discount as Tremor contains some significant design elements from both.
This account is dormant, I am no longer employed by FXpansion / ROLI.

Find me on LinkedIn or elsewhere if you need to get in touch.

I agree with the presets thing, it was the same thing with D-Cam, the factory presets just didn't give a very good idea of the synth. They were just, excuse me, plain awful (distorted, not very musically usable etc) when the plug-ins itself is so awesome. Not wanting to sound too harsh, but some other people have now noted this too.
circuit modeling and 0-dfb filters are cool

Nice, punchy drum synth. I love it!

that's how I felt too about synthsquad. but it is apparently by design, and is the musical taste of angus and I guess a few others there.

Some elements of Geist, modulation and synth from DCAM... sound remembers me more to Microtonic but this must be the presets. Hmmmmm... I have no idea if like it or not :D

Eventually FXpansion can merge Geist and Tremor in the future? This could be more interesting to have samples and a synth for drums.

So how does it compare with uTonic

See my previous comment about my listening to too much industrial in the 90s (no such thing!).

Maybe you can direct us towards a certain style you'd like to see explored, and we'll take Tremor on a test drive out in that direction?

CPU-wise, yes, that's the circuit modelling maths coming out. Do remember each of the 8 engine has up to 3 DCAM effects on it, in addition to the various filters and drive units stashed away inside the synth unit itself.

Most presets come in at about 25% of one core on my i7.
