Nope I didn't miss a solo button during beta! I wasn't the one suggesting it at the beta either (I'm 99% certain it got suggested at one point but like i said earlier, the beta forum had quite a few messages with tons of suggestions and comments). I think Dan suggested it at some point but I was way too busy creating weird compressors, weird amp sims and weird stuff in general!penguinfromdeep wrote:I was searching for the solo button too ... but in vain ... Hope it's gets added! It's kind of essential in my opinion. TBH I don't understand how it got slipped through betatesters, Bmanic you didn't really miss it?! Other than that I'm liking this plug-in more and more. I like the HQ mode and I like that it seems to munch cpu nicely, I'm sure there's some hoodoo going on under the hood!
Yeah I know, I kind of sucked during the beta.. didn't really find a single bug as I was way too busy having fun with the plugin. Sorry!
I'm certain FabFilter will add it ASAP. They are usually updating their plugins quickly and do respond to user feedback very well.
Cheers!

Same here.. I've never had the time to play with Kombinat. Was very close to pulling the trigger on that one but have yet to do it. In this case the "no demo" policy saved me a few pennies.bduffy wrote:I'd be interested to hear that, never got to play with Kombinat. So I did. I'd say sound wise there are differences for sure, but they're very comparable in terms of sound quality. Kombinat DVA's got a great filter with resonance, Saturn only has a graphic eq like tone control. Kombinat's' got attack and decay parameters on the feedback control, Saturn doesn't. What Saturn does have though, is a fantastic modulation section that IMO, no software touches. Of course, one could always put another filter plug in after Saturn, and lord knows I have a ton (including Volcano) Kombinat's got a great octave fuzz, but Saturn's got some great guitar amp like tones. It's really a toss up.bduffy wrote:I'd be interested to hear that, never got to play with Kombinat. Not that many of these multiband distortion units are that comparable, save maybe Ozone? So I'd say they are both easily tools that could sit side by side in your distortion plug in folder. After making a patch in Saturn that sounded absolutely amazing in front of Amplitube 3 (Running a clean boogie sim) I had to buy it.

Yeah, a useful side effect of the no-demo policy. Then again, their stuff sells like hotcakes in the Market Place...bmanic wrote:Same here.. I've never had the time to play with Kombinat. Man, FabFilter must be raking it in today (hopefully)!

Awesome!zerocrossing wrote: So I'd say they are both easily tools that could sit side by side in your distortion plug in folder. After making a patch in Saturn that sounded absolutely amazing in front of Amplitube 3 (Running a clean boogie sim) I had to buy it.
Check out my "Stomp" and "Rack" category of guitar presets. The stomp presets are meant to be in front of an amp sim and the rack effects after. I'm also quite pleased with some of the Guitar Amp presets I created. It's a seriously nice sounding distortion.
The only thing I don't like that much is the actual cabinet thing.. it's not bad but it just can't touch those Nebula cabinets and especially not those Redwirez cabinet impulses.
I know I suggested during the beta that we get versions of the various amp distortion algorithms without the cabinet model and the FabFilter guys said they would definitely add that in an update (either a button to turn off the cabinet emulation or separate versions without it). This would make Saturn a really awesome front end to any amp modeling software like Amplitube, S-Gear or such.
Another thing that just hit me is that I'd like a switch for the crossover filters steepness. It'd be cool for guitar stuff to get some 48dB per octave crossovers or something (I think the current ones are 12dB per octave but not sure). Then we could create some lovely wah wah type of stuff.
I have way too many features I'd like to see in Saturn.. so many ideas. Why can't they just implement everything I say damn it!!
Cheers!

It's been fun going through all the old "eh" projects and seeing what it can do.
Kombinat is a jem though, it's not going anywhere...........for now

Damn, this thing delivers some serious drum booty in multi-band mode. Instant gratification for the hood nation.

It's a perfect "instant gratification" tool! And even better if you want to dig under the hood. (not that I know what the hell is going on the modulation section. I attached an Envelope Follower to the Dynamics dial and patted myself on the back...)A.M. Gold wrote:Damn, this thing delivers some serious drum booty in multi-band mode. I'm delighted by the drum sounds available through it. It's hard for me to get really loud, brash distorted acoustic drum sounds I like, but this makes it much easier.

Just the rude-ass kick distortion and the convenient band division setup is enough for me. Will most likely purchase, but my days of buying anything on demo day one are over by now.
