Not sure I get the question, but I'm turning my input into completely new sounds and rhythms very easily.Caine123 wrote:but it seems that you cannot mangle for example loops to tally new sounds do you? you would still (if you know the sound of course) hear the original one out.

Hm, I think if you mangle a mangled sound, bounce it off, import and repeat this over and over again you might end up with something totally new. Or something total rubbishCaine123 wrote:but it seems that you cannot mangle for example loops to tally new sounds do you? you would still (if you know the sound of course) hear the original one out.

Bump.

So in order to use the best feature (Radius), you need to play at 512 samples latency in your DAW? Sorry but that's kind of restrictive, guess I'll stick to alchemy. I tend to use 128 samples. I'd like to at least be at 256.
Shame, it has a nice interface.

I was excited about this, too, when I first read the announcement. I have been looking for something for a long time that would allow me to "pluck", "bow" and "hammer" my own samples, and it looked like Iris would be it. I downloaded the demo, though, and am disappointed (at the moment). It seems to be a sample player that doesn't currently have the timestretching capabilities of Kontakt, while the filter drawing tools are limited. Playing a patch made with three samples, I hear all three samples on top of one another - there doesn't seem to be any morphing or blending capabilities (I can't even get the volume of each sample to change relative to the other).
On the other hand, this thread alerted me to the existence of Poseidon, which really seems like it is exactly what I am looking for. I am excited to try the demo for that. For the moment, though, I think I'm going to pass on Iris.

I've been using Radius RT at 128 samples on my DAW, so you should try the demo to see what your machine can achieve.Echoes in the Attic wrote:So in order to use the best feature (Radius), you need to play at 512 samples latency in your DAW? But really, unless you're playing live, who cares what the latency is? You can always freeze a track if you want to record a singer or whatever over it. And when you render, it doesn't matter at all what your latency is.

Downloaded it straight away, hence the problems I described earlier with pops and crackles at the attack of the sound. It's awful.lightsfadelow wrote:I've been using Radius RT at 128 samples on my DAW, so you should try the demo to see what your machine can achieve.Echoes in the Attic wrote:So in order to use the best feature (Radius), you need to play at 512 samples latency in your DAW? Well I use Ableton Live and like to keep things unfrozen as much as possible (effects etc.).lightsfadelow wrote: But really, unless you're playing live, who cares what the latency is? To me a spectral synth that doesn't allow importing images is not a complete spectral synth
