That's awesome, grats.valhallasound wrote:Well, since it hasn't been talked about here yet, ValhallaRoom is mentioned in the January 2013 Sound On Sound:
http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/jan13/a ... t-0113.htm (eSub required).
The article is an interview with Alan Moulder, and his engineering of the Led Zeppelin CD/DVD/movie, "Celebration Day."
Alan Moulder, talking about the drums:
"I used the Reverb One and Valhalla Room on the kick and snare and also the tom sub. The Valhalla Room is a great plug-in, and it seemed strangely correct to use a plug-in with that name on a Led Zeppelin album!"
So, just to sum up: Alan Moulder. Using ValhallaRoom. To mix Led Zeppelin.
To be honest I was thinking to cave and buy the dreaded iLok just to run some soon-to-be-released reverbs from a new but known developer, but looks like I won't have to now. Will demo VintageVerb some more, but really love it so far, it seems to have that immediate richness I've been missing a bit in Room. Would be so nice to drop the whole iLok idea and just get a keyfile so will likely get this soon.

Lovely jubbly, Sean.
VVV generally sounds better to my ears than VRoom. Especially plate and chamber algos. However, I prefer VRoom hall and room to VVV's, somehow, so far.
It probably depends on the material you're working with, and sometimes VVV's hall would work better and vice versa. They're both great, and there's really no need to argue about the price. At all.
[I think they're a bit too cheap, but this way you're gonna sell tons of plugins... good policy, if you ask me.
]
Is there a way to make the GUI permanently open at a certain size? [VRoom, too]
Cheers!

Wow. Led Zeppelin. You're now officially part of Rock and Roll history, Sean.

Just tried something myself:Ingonator wrote:Cool. I should try this with my Moog Slim Phatty soon. I guess i got a comparable sound along the presets i have created with the Phatty (in fact i already made a full bank for it but still don't think it's good enough to publish...).valhallasound wrote:I spent several hours in Don Gunn's studio today, recording some VintageVerb examples. Just started playing with VintageVerb and it really sounds fantastic IMO.

I can't decide what to buy between Room and VintageVerb, they both sound so good!

of course, but I can't get them both at the same time, for two reasons.TristezaOrange wrote:Get them both, goshdarnit!grumpy.b wrote:I can't decide what to buy between Room and VintageVerb, they both sound so good!![]()
1. Budget
2. I'd rather only get one at a time and really learn it thoroughly.
whichever I get I'll probably get the other one in about two or three months.

Well...the KVR thing to do would be to get VVV now and bask in the buzz. Then in a few months get VRoom and then report how great it is too and how you wished you got it first. Oh..wait, not helping...grumpy.b wrote: of course, but I can't get them both at the same time, for two reasons.

Why not just perform the blind 'pin the Valhalla tail on the donkey song' method?

Wow, demoing VVV for 5 minutes was enough for me to buy it...
It has character, it has charisma and it works really fine with orchestral intruments too...

I've been planning on picking up Lexicon LXP sometime before the year is over, but now I don't know. This might be all I need. I wish I could demo LXP again so I could hear them side by side. For the price of LXP, I could get Vintage Verb and still have $80 left to go toward an eq I have my eyes on. Decisions, decisions.

Here's the thing about VV for me. The "plates" for example sound huge, but they "sit" for me. There are some extreme verbs for that huge over the top thing, but there is something about this thing for sitting. I dunno, wished it was just placebo, but I kept being blown away

I have this funky hats groove in a project and the sizzling hats are just amazing with the drum plate patches in VVV. They cope with all that high frequency program material without producing anything unpleasant at all and the kick and snare are working really well at the same time.hibidy wrote:Here's the thing about VV for me.
