No offence, but the stock presets sound bad (as in not good) - which IMO is inexcusable for a commercial synth. As long as you're asking money for your product, make sure it's one that stands out right out of the box - especially since you're competting in such a saturated market.

Really impressive Synth for sure.
I've managed to recreate a lot of Virus patches that both Dune and Sylenth have so far failed to do.
Jp8000 like sounds aren't too far off the mark either.
Love the way Spire morphs waveforms at the oscillator level.
The low end of Spire is wicked its just wicked!
The Shaper is amazing producing sounds I've only ever heard out of the Virus.
The choice of waveforms is more than generous making it capable of a huge palette of sounds.
For me at least Spire goes well beyond Sylenth and Dune.
I am not sure if its a bug/ oversight but at present if I tweak the cutoff/ resonance the changes aren't reflected until I let go of the dial (from the GUI)
Another strange thing is if I play a series of chords using unison sometimes one note jumps out as being more prominent than the rest (sharp attack)
Spire is a lovely tweakers Synth having said that I really look forward to hear what professional designers come up with in the near future as I have
a feeling we are in for a real treat.
Great start for Reveal.

Would be glad to hear them too, as I'm no programmer... More of a presets junkie here.aquar wrote:Really impressive Synth for sure.

I think a bank of Trance presets for Spire are in order then.
I haven't been inspired enough to making a bank for any other Synth before but Spire is kind of special.
Might take a little while though as I am still finding my way around.

Are you saying you can't get an audible filter sweep?aquar wrote: I am not sure if its a bug/ oversight but at present if I tweak the cutoff/ resonance the changes aren't reflected until I let go of the dial (from the GUI).

Frantz no problems getting a sweep no problems at all.Frantz wrote:Are you saying you can't get an audible filter sweep?aquar wrote: I am not sure if its a bug/ oversight but at present if I tweak the cutoff/ resonance the changes aren't reflected until I let go of the dial (from the GUI).
I mean if I tweak the cutoff/resonance dials from the gui using my mouse
I am not hearing the change until I let go of the dial/s.
It could be to do with my Daw/Computer setup as I have no problems tweaking on my midi keyboards.

I could hear sweeps with using cutoff knob and mouse. What daw are you using?
And yes, bottom end is wicked! It must be handling it some special kind of way so it never gets "too much" (ie out of control)

Fun synth. I'm impressed so far. No, it's not a competitor for Diva but it's a solid digital synth. I'm going to wait a couple of month before i get it, i want to see how serious the devs on development.

The demo is working fine in Ableton Live 9 (on Windows 7)here.
It seem sto be a quite nice and powerful synth but based on the fact that i already got too many synths and some comparable powerful ones (e.g. ElectraX, Gladiator 2, Rayblaster, Synthmaster 2.6, Diversion, PPG Wave 3.V, Largo, Massive, DUNE, Z3Ta+ 2, Alchemy) i guess i will pass this one. This does not mean the synth is bad at all.
One thing that is interesting in Spire besides the wavetable and wave morph feature (that are not totally new) is that each oscillator seems to have independent unison settings. Anyway the implementaion seems to be more a "per layer" one like in other synths (e.g. Largo).
What seems to be missing is some more interaction between the oscillators (e.g. FM and/or Sync). I don't know exactly what e.g. the "osc1" mod source is used for. It does not seem to be usable for FM. a the current state the 4 oscillators do look a bit similar to layers in e.g. Largo or ElectraX. On the other hand FM seems to be possible using the corresponding mode in a single oscillator using two operators for each of them which is quite "basic" but still nice and powerful. The AMSync oscillator mode seems to be quite interesting too.
Concerning waveform morph in some other synths:
In ElectraX each oscillator could do morphing ("PW" parameter), no matter which of the several oscillator modes is used (same for all oscillators waveforms in Saurus). Each layer got 3 of those óscillator that could interact with Fm and/or sync.
In Rayblaster you could load two different waveforms in each oscillator and mix/crossafade them.
In wavetable synth like e.g. Largo or PPG Wave 3.V morphing is quite usual. In Synthmaster there are several ways including vector synthesis.

I have been waiting for this one as (although it is only promised at the moment!) a 64-bit mac replacement for Sylenth.
I agree that the presets are weak and I can't help thinking that there is some stiff competition on the way with the next Diva update (super saw + arpeggiator) and Dune 2 (of which I have heard it said that it will have the ability to sound "less smooth" and more like Sylenth).
So, not biting at the moment, but enjoying playing with the demo (it is a good synth!).
