I wish they'd extend the drum engine a bit to make a few modes that are more contusive to different percussion sounds. Or just do a simple sample import.
I agree with you on the cymbal sound, but after all these years I expect Microtonic to sound like Microtonic and I just add in additional sounds from other sources.
For me it seems like every other drum product aims to be end-all drum product and I often end up only using just a few features, but never everything.
I don’t think it’ll go that route anyways, or more than likely it would have happened already so I’m not worried… but I’m definitely not scared of a new Soniccharge product that can fill in some of those sample gaps.

I love microtonic and think it has stood the test of time really well. The only thing I would like it a better preset browser. One that organizes per genre or tags that can be searched.

You're definitely not asking for anything crazy. It's just my preference, that's all (and I exert no influence in Soniccharge's decision-making).zerocrossing wrote: Sat Jan 08, 2022 3:24 amelxsound wrote: Sat Jan 08, 2022 1:04 amIf they ever do this, I hope it’s a new product.zerocrossing wrote: Sat Jan 08, 2022 12:57 am My only issue with Microtonic is that I can never get a cymbal I like from it, other than basic noise high hats. The only drum synth I can think of that’s just a single engine is the Tempest and one of the oscillator choices is digital and contains a ton of drum samples and digital waveforms. I guess I could use the MIDI out to sequence samples or another drum synth, but I like having a more complete solution. Lately I’ve been leaning towards Sugar Bytes’ Drumcomputer for synthesized drums.
Drumcomputer is impressive. I only have it on the iPad, but it's a fun tool to work with and it's quite a bit deeper.

I mean the finished available vintage tonic was the source for this 808 skinSynthack wrote: Sat Jan 08, 2022 2:45 amThat's pretty cool looking. Hopefully someone will know if it's available.Shabdahbriah wrote: Sat Jan 08, 2022 2:25 amKind of. I don't remember who did it, or whether/where it is available, but:Synthack wrote: Thu Jan 06, 2022 3:55 am Anyone know if there is a 8O8 Colour scheme skin for MicroTonic?

Thanks for this 808 skin. It clicks to me the best out of all available.
Question about muting instruments. It seems (and its manual does mention that) that it's not possible to learn and record muting channels no control with CCs.
It can be muted by pressing a defined keyboard key, but it stays muted until release. It feels kind of uncomfortable forcing me to press and hold multiple of keys, shuffling them, etc. Or am I missing something.
Of course, I can manually enter needed values onto automation lanes, but I'm asking about your workflow of recording those changes during playback.

Sad truth is that imho microtonic is death since 2011.
Adding macro controls and user guis doesn’t change that .
Magnus is a top developer delivering top notch products but they all remain stuck in version 1.0.

Great Instrument, but not much advancement/progress to improve it further. Also no VST3 version yet, sad.
Maybe emailing Magnus via the website to see if all is OK, and we can expect further progress, and support for MicroTonic. It's one of my favorite electronic rhythm producing instruments.

He is still very actively actively working on Soniccharge.
Feel free to email. Maybe you’ll get an invite to beta.
I wouldn’t expect a different microtonic… It’s one of the only “classic” drum plugins.

A good plugin doesn't stop being good just because it doesn't get updated every week or get all the new bells and whistles.
I use microtonic all the time. It sounds great and is rock solid stable. The Patternarium is a great resource as well.

Funny you say it is dead since 2011 because I started using it three years ago (2019) and I use it all the time. Its in all my tracks. I wish had known about it in 2011.gentleclockdivider wrote: Thu Jul 14, 2022 4:39 pm Sad truth is that imho microtonic is death since 2011.

And Patternarium is amazing, I never seen anything like it.
