This thread made me look again at Omnisphere... I already have stylus, trilian, atmosphere, and trilogy. Since I had a bit of spare cash, i went for it: $149 seemed like a bargain.... crikey damn, if pressing the confirm button didn't make my heart beat faster!

I see a lot of people selling Komplete around here, but no Omnisphere. Just saying.

Actually, what is sold is not Komplete, but things from Komplete. Often due to the fact they upgraded and now have two licenses for some of the components.cocoazenith wrote:I see a lot of people selling Komplete around here, but no Omnisphere. Just saying.
In seeing that, Omni is being sold used pretty close in the same numbers. But people buy Omni used less since it becomes NFR after that. And Komplete (or the individual licenses within) doesn't suffer from that.
Which makes a stronger case for buying Komplete over anything in Spectrasonics.

I do have a question here. Users keep speaking about the 8,000 presets, but when doing the demos at GC, I found nothing even close to that. Does GC show a 'special' demo version to reduce the file size on their computers? And if so, why can't Spectrasonics make that available for everyone online?
Something's amiss.

I think there are actually about 5000 presets. And there are about 3000 soundsources. So Eric has said this makes 8000 sounds, which I find bizarre. 3000 soundsources + 5000 presets that use those 300 sounds = 8000 "sounds"? Kind of weird to add sample sources to presets for a total. But whatever.BBFG# wrote:I do have a question here. Users keep speaking about the 8,000 presets, but when doing the demos at GC, I found nothing even close to that. I feel ya, but, my point was that resale policy impacts the used marketplace.el-bo (formerly ebow) wrote:i've tended towards hard-boiled or fried eggs recently, rather than poached. just sayin'

Musical chairs with a pig in a poke?
(Who gets left without the right to resale?)

No definitely not 300. There are 5000 presets.BBFG# wrote:That does explain the discrepancy between what is said and what are actual presets. (Which seems closer to the 300 mark).

You're sure you weren't browsing multis? That is in the hundreds. A multi is a preset using multiple of the 8 synths in the plug-in. That's the top level brwoser.
If you are in the preset selector, you might also have it looking in a specific library. Make sure the factory content is selected.

that's all well and good, but what about my eggs ?? hard-boiled always have their place in salads, but you don't get to enjoy the runny yolks. these eggs are hatched free-range from healthy chucks mere metres from my door; them yolks is golden, y'hear ?ghettosynth wrote:I feel ya, but, my point was that resale policy impacts the used marketplace.el-bo (formerly ebow) wrote:i've tended towards hard-boiled or fried eggs recently, rather than poached. just sayin'
would definitely defer to poaching to get the yolks while further reducing fried foods, but poaching is an art i have yet to master
