loving this. currently listening to

one day, you are all gonna [dAI-AI-AI]
computers will take over the world.
chaos lives in [E very thing]
dance to the beat dance to the beat. move your booty and dance to the beat

on repeat, just trying out different helium and modwheel settings while letting my zaquencer run notes into chipspeech. :clown:

in tiny font, cause i am ashamed to even whisper it  :
if i were somehow forced by some higher power to file one complaint i have about chipspeech, it'd probably be that it just barely fits my screen, vertically. I am on a laptop with 1366x768 resolution and with plug-in borders etc. I can just about reach the lowest parameters.

I haven't had this much fun playing with a new synth since I got my first one in the 80s. :D

You don't know how nice this is to read

what's really great is that it's so intuitive to use. must be some seriously complicated stuff running in the background, but by the looks of the GUI one wouldn't really think of it.
What I'm trying to say is, the GUI doesn't get in the way of creativity, the contrary seems to be the case - everything is really easy to get into.

i hope some day choir patches with multiple voice characters will be possible. sorry for the nitpicking. i really hope the numbers work out for plogue. :)

That would be added complexity on the UI we thought.
Then you might want a voice's line to stay longer, or switch to the next phoneme on its own.
But one 'text' view is one sequence with a single position.

So the thing Torley and MadBrains track did a lot is layers, you can have much better 'fullness' that way, albeit with more work.

It's no problem at all, I figured there were good reasons against it. Layering is probably not even that much more work, because else you'd have the same work in one utterly cluttered UI.

I did a silly 'track' a few years ago, where I had taken some Spam-Emails with ludicrous text, ran it through a speech synth-engine and then pitch-shifted the file later on, while a friend improvised some bass lines to that.

Chipspeech is a LOT less work than that and way more satisfying than all those hoops. :D

Thanks. chipcrusher went under the radar for some reason.
We didn't do lots of publicity for it cause we got caught in a few things, people who have it tend to want to keep it their secret weapon though :)

It was a pleasure to be a member of the betatester team. ChipSpeech is an awesome product, big kudos to Plogue team and all composer who made a track for the album.

I uploaded the source file of my demo track to this location:
http://www.strayworx.com/temp/plogue/St ... chine.xrns

Made with Renoise 3.0, required plugins to flawlessly open the file:
- ChipSpeech
- ChipSounds
- ChipCrusher
- MeldaProd AutoPan (available in their free bundle)
- Dominion Signal Modeller (another free plugin)

Enjoy.

Thanks strayboom!
Having That is cool for a dev like me, I can re-render a track and see if I broke my code ;)

[EDIT].. even cooler than that .. I didn't realize how cool it would be to SEE other people automate chipspeech. Works really well here. Except from the Dominion plugin which is only 32bit...

Can I made a video of that? would be cool to show the plugin,
Or be my guest and do it!

Remove Dominion from that channel, it was only a subtle transient enhancement on the drum samples :)
I had no problem with 64bit Renoise + 32bit Dominion plugin... they worked fine together.

And the story behind choosing Renoise instead of Reaper: it was much easier and simpler to force ChipSpeech to switch between sentences using pattern commands. My midi keyboard was useless in Reaper, it sends too much data too quickly if I rotate any knob and the speech jumps from one position to another like crazy.

...and actually I grown up on ProTracker, FastTracker and ImpulseTracker so this is another good reason :)

David, please make the video, I never did anything like this and don't have the tools to do it.

looking forward to that video. :)
i wish i were able to get anything useful out of renoise. i just don't click with trackers, i suppose.
i'm still using that strange little host called bidule. ;) and then i sequence them from outside via MIDI step sequencer. :hyper:

I can send the Cubase project file of my joke track if you like. It's very light, just Chipspeech and Chipsounds. There's not much automation, though, just CC2 commands to cue in each line. The most interesting thing is the weird positioning you have to do for note-ons and note-offs. I had Snap permanently turned off by the end of the session. And EQ is mandatory for some of the speech models :)

hey, i know that song, it's been in my head for some time now. :phones:

in german it goes something like:

alle kinder lernen lesen
auch indianer und chinesen

(all children learn to read
also indians (the native american indians) and chinese)

although i more often than not sing it as 'außer' which means 'except'. :clown:

edit:

which in this case i shall from now on sing as 'all computer learn to speak' :hihi:

Alle computer lernen sprechen
Auf biegen und auf brechen...
