The Bazille filter is definitely my favorite U-he filter... Actually, it's hands down my favorite software filter I have ever used.
I still prefer my beloved QMMG but Bazille's filters are certainly some of my favorites. They share some qualities with the Cwejman Res-4, though Bazille's filters are much more flexible.
Never tried the QMMG myself, but have listened to some demos... I can hear why you like it! :tu:

Here is a Bazille example. Most of the sound shaping is from the filter. The filter output modulated by the sequencer and a modmapper and then fed back into the filter input.

(sorry Hive'ers... but there is not much to talk about with Hive atm anyway :P )

Ok, now I want wip GUI picture, too :) If you want my money, too :)

No. I tried some Serum patches and the grinding sound really stood out in the mix. It was like listening to jackhammers. Nothing fixed it. Didn't take long to realise Serum wasn't for me.

I also realized it wasnt for me very quickly :)

I hope there will be a few good tuition videos for Hive so we can get into it quickly.

Not crazy about Bazille, but I like this patch: http://draigathar.org/sounds/B75.mp3

Kind of nice. Warmer than Serum generally, so it's the exception to the rule. Good for a short listen and maybe one or two tracks, but it's still got that thin digital trebly coldness if you keep listening and have to work with it for a few hours. You did great, but it's Serum.

However, many people seem to love Serum, so let's just say it's a subjective thing.

Not me (I wish!) a new soundbank by Hollo (who did some great work on Zebra) Wavetable synths sound different to analog (as do FM etc.) but I also think the reverb built in to Serum doesn't help, turn it off and use a better (warmer) reverb and it sounds quite different. Check out these pre-sets http://www.patchpool.de/serum_sonic_tabulator.html I think as its a wavetable synth it takes on the individuality of the patch designer. I have all the UHE synths (and my 25 off voucher ready for Hive :-)) but I really believe Serum is a worthwhile VST as I keep going back to it as it is so easy to make new sounds on of almost any style....much easier than subtractive synth's.

kuzami wrote:So when do you estimate a release? Was hoping to be able to use my coupon on this.
Coupons will be valid until well after Hive is on sale - but it might be during the public beta period.

Atm I can not estimate anything - Howie has announced a long list of niggles which might throw me back for another week or two. (ah, just saw it, not all that bad)

Hi Urs,

Just a quick request regarding an email proposal I sent you on sound design work specifically for Hive, with a link to various examples of my work. After sending the email I received an automated response, saying that you were currently overwhelmed by emails and that I would have to wait for a response from your new private email address or contact Janey. Obviously, time is of the essence with things like this and you may not get a chance to evaluate my work,or consider my proposal, prior to the release of the synth,if it's at the the bottom of huge pile of emails. I've looked on your website for contact details for Janey but can't see anything there, so I wondered if you could give me her contact details via P.M, so I can redirect my correspondence to her.

Thanks.

Yemski.

I'm sure your work is great but I think Urs already mentioned that they have enough sound designers as it is (and so many people wanting to design sounds for it).. I wouldn't tax him more with these things
circuit modeling and 0-dfb filters are cool

Urs said there will be a public beta. The perfect time for the public to make presets

Cool. My actions may seem a little impetous, but I've wanted to work on this guy's stuff for some time. I missed out on Bazille because of other commitments, and I'm a bit gutted because that turned out so well as a product. Because of that I thought I'd be a bit more pro-active this time round. You know what they say about squeaky wheels getting the grease and all that. Of course the existence of a public beta changes the dynamics of this and I will be on that one very quickly. :tu:

In end though,Urs seems like a reasonable professional guy and I'm sure he will judge me on the quality of my work, rather than the nature of my approach.

Thanks for the heads up on the Beta. I won't make the same mistake I did with Bazille of putting off experimenting with the beta and creating presets, while I did other stuff. :dog:
