That was my thought, too. But then I don't know much about the M12. Maybe I need to do more digging to get the wow factor of this synth. On the other hand, maybe it just isn't my cup of tea.Maomoondog wrote:Sounds OK

While doing my own patches i first did not find Portamento/Glide in the Matrix-12V but then realized this is done using the Lag generator with Keyboard as the source and activating "lag" for VCO1 and VCO2 in the "PAGE2" tab (the tab at the lower right of the GUI).

It does say in the specs "Win 7+ PC". I always check out the specs before even trying a demo or buying a synth.layzer wrote:yeah, it fails with savihost and EnergyXT2 reports it as an invalid 32bit appfmr wrote:Nope, it's 32 and 64, but I didn't try to install it on XP yet, just Win 7. weird because it installed without a hitch. i think Arturia simply forgot to do an OS check
on the installation. and if they did leave out XP as a platform, thats a huge F*** up in my opinion.

still a huge screw up on their part to leave XP out... since 1/4 of all OS users are still using it as of july 2014.Examigan wrote:It does say in the specs "Win 7+ PC". I tried the Matrix 12V, the stock presets were not very impressive.
After tweaking it for a while it sounded sweet.
It seems capable of doing some things my other softsynths don't, including other Oberhiem emulations.
The Solina V sounds fine, not too difficult to emulate.

Numbers have dropped lot since then according to most web analytics companies. Eg netmarketshare.com have the figures at 13.57% for November 2014. About to be overtaken by Windows 8.1 no less..layzer wrote:still a huge screw up on their part to leave XP out... since 1/4 of all OS users are still using it as of july 2014
It also assume they're 1/4 of the potential market. Not even close. Those using XP are generally running older hardware and they aren't about to drop $169 on anything, much less a plugin.

I think there's a reason it (and the Xpander) were known more for their features than their sound. But, even so (as they might say around the mountains of Grenoble) where's the Joie De Vivre? There's a bit missing in the Arturia code.Sendy wrote:That was my thought, too. But then I don't know much about the M12. Maybe I need to do more digging to get the wow factor of this synth. Perhaps too many other priorities elsewhere? I couldn't help but note the upgrade offer ends the week before Winter NAMM starts too..

doesn't tell you how many of THEIR users are on XP and what the cost ratio is to support that OS, if it could even support some of the new implementations.layzer wrote:still a huge screw up on their part to leave XP out... since 1/4 of all OS users are still using it as of july 2014.Examigan wrote:It does say in the specs "Win 7+ PC". The M12 / Xpander had extremely flexible modulation routings. They were a bit like digitally patched modulars. And powered by Curtis chips. Of course in this day and age, flexible routing matrices are far more commonplace. And we already know how good Arturia are at nailing the Curtis sounds.Sendy wrote:That was my thought, too. Yes, you have to remember that before plugins, there very few polysynths with that kind of modulation routing power, it's what Oberheim was known for at the time. Even the Matrix 6 is fairly powerful in that regard. By comparison to some of today's plugins, and certainly modular environments, the M12 has a fairly tame set of modulation routings.

this is how i remember thew original machine... a far cry from the ''emulation''...EvilDragon wrote:Absolutely not!Kriminal wrote:(what a pile of shite, does the real unit sound that bad?)
Second video completely blew my head, sounds totally amazing with all that modulation.
i agree with many comments from previous owner here, plus the mention that now that Arturia touched this, no one will make an emulation of it, including a more descent one... the curse of Arturia in my mind...
I hope that it will not stop any good coders to eventually taking this beast into consideration ( I'm looking at you, TAL and Gmedia...)
on the other hand, I agree with Ned. if you try to judge this by its abilities to produce bass, you will be dissapointed anyway...
It's not what you use, it's how you use it...
