this. it seems plausible they sold IP and can't say anything until the buyer decides to disclose the info (if they would ever)whyterabbyt wrote:You're assuming someone has the authority to make an in-depth statement.EvilDragon wrote:Don't you think a more in-depth statement would have been a better way to handle this situation, whatever it is? Some of us remember what happened when Apple bought Redmatica - there are some similarities here, the suddenness, the lack of any announcement from the company that had been sold, the rush to download and backup your software, the silence of the people involved who are normally fairly active online...
It seems a weird time to sell when a significant new upgrade to the flagship product was imminent (realistically, sometime this year) but maybe they got an offer that was too good to refuse - people don't sell the businesses they've started and sweat blood for for years lightly.... *if* that is what has happened.
I'd rule out personal tragedy - if something like that had happened, the company wouldn't update it's website and shutdown operations like that, it would continue to trade (at least for a while) and someone would make a personal statement about what happened. The fact that no one has said anything indicates to me a legal lack of ability to do so. I'm sure we'll know more over the next few weeks.
In the case of Redmatica, all the products went away for good, so if something like that happens, it's possible that no more development or updates will happen, and Alchemy 2 will remain for most vapourware, some of it's IP may well go into future products from another company, as will no doubt the developers skills and efforts. I think it's unlikely that Alchemy 2 will come out as some rebadged product from another company, but hey, no one has any real info at this stage and anyone in a position to know isn't talking (or allowed to talk about it) so... speculate away... :shrugs:

I would not hope for this at all.EvilDragon wrote:I'd say that would be the bestest news ever, really!walablat wrote:U-he bought Camel Audio. Ben will show up at NAMM with all the details!
My main tools: Kontakt, Omnisphere, Samplemodeling + Audio Modeling. Unify = godsend. Tari's libraries also rock.

Or they have gone into administration/receivership?Gamma-UT wrote:It's the most likely scenario.core wrote:this. it seems plausible they sold IP and can't say anything until the buyer decides to disclose the info (if they would ever)
That's also quite plausible, given the lack of info.

Allso one of their sound designers here.
This was a shock for me too !!!
Was in the sound designer forum a couple of days ago, and there was no indication of this...
Was looking forward to make sounds for Alchemy 2
Very sad news indeed !

The state of their accounts at companies house indicates a reasonably healthy bank balance for a small business.Ben H wrote:Or they have gone into administration/receivership?

I guess it's now time to speculate who bought up Camel Audio?
IKM
Spectrasonics
Uhe??
Refx???
_____ DAW to include as host app
Seriously, it they were sold, there could only be a short list of who bought. I seriously hope it has nothing to do with mac or making it only a mac only application...
