That it saves its buyer (at least) $100 on brand new, state-of-the-art products?just for clarity, what exactly is the justification for charging $50 for a license transfer for a discontinued unsupported product?
TheoM, I think what we've established is that your understanding of how this business works, and mine, are mutually incompatible - in fact, I think we established this some years ago. Mayur (our head tech support guy) informs me that he offered you a way out which would cost you personally nothing. Can we just agree on that, please? Just accept that the way we do stuff isn't for you. It's better that way for you, for me & my colleagues, and for everyone else on this thread.
I'd ask other contributors not to speculate on entitlement complexes, Mac-versus-PC and suchlike, let's stay on topic & avoid further negativity please.
I explained further up the thread that, at this stage, we had to make a decision between load-in-place and side-by-side operation. Because Strobe2 is entirely new and better technology (to allow stuff like 50% lower CPU load at 8x oversample/32 voices on modern cores, better timing on the envelopes, more musician-friendly fader tapers, gain-compensated filter drive, modern & easy-to-understand arpeggiator etc..), it's impossible to guarantee 100% identical sonic output, so we opted for side-by-side installation.
Fingers crossed, the pace of OS change is slower now, the money's all in phones & tablets apparently so that's where the engineering effort is focused - on that baiss, v1 ought to be safe until Audio Units 2.x becomes obsolete, and when that day does come, a whole lot of stuff besides ours isn't going to make the jump. We do have the option of a load-in-place replacement in the future if need be, but it's never going to be 100% identical sonically. Can't be done. Still, by my reckoning you have at least a year, hopefully more, to freeze, render, bounce etc. your old Strobe v1 tracks.
That said - why on earth would we cripple Strobe2 by forcing 100% backwards compatibility upon it? It'd end up with a bunch of extra switches and cruft to emulate old and sub-optimal behaviour. Would you have us emulate the bugs, too?
Geist 2 is in the works, I can confirm that much. Again, it'll be a side-by-side install by default, so people can carry on using both.

If and when OS X breaks compatibility with Geist 1? Could happen, if it's not rendered out. The project will load, but the plug-in won't. There may be the option of an over-the-top install later, once again with caveats around the audio engine, but I don't yet know if that's even feasible for Geist.this just tells me that all my projects using geist 1 will stop loading at some point.
As I've explained above, we are looking at offering an optional over-the-top install - if and when such a thing becomes necessary - but it can't, and won't, ever be sonically identical to v1. Close in most cases though. But the only way to guarantee bit-for-bit likeness is to freeze or render.Am i wrong? Same with synth squad.
I will talk to Mayur in the morning & confirm exactly what was offered. TBH, I wasn't aware til now you'd bought it all again. Geist will have to be sold with its expanders, and Synth Squad with its, but otherwise I don't see any need to restrict.I was offered no deal that would cost me personally nothing.. that's hogwash.
Is it still on the table? If so i can drop the ask price and maybe get rid of everything.
Does it all have to be sold to one person?
Can everyone refrain from further comment on Theo's motives please? You know how this ends already, and it's mostly just a waste of good peoples' time. Thanks

Sounds like a plan to me. I'll let the tech support crew know.

On topic, I've been demoing Strobe 2 and really like it. I don't need another synth, really, especially a subtractive, but wrapping my head around the new possibilities, such as that cool euclidean processor, is really enjoyable and creative. The sound is very impressive, upfront and powerful. Nice effects, as well. Too bad the reverb size can't be modulated smoothly, though.
Oh, and this would be just icing on the cake, but it would be great to have some routing options for the FX section - that would really open it up for experimentation.

The beta testers have got it now, we're giving them a few days with it to make sure nothing unexpected crops up.When is due the next version fixing FL Studio crashes?
If you've already bought, contact tech support & they can grant you access.
We'll be posting an updated demo version in a few more days.
