Looks like the feature was removed by Sony in version 3... Or at least dropped, looks like they re-wrote quite a bit of it for ver 3 and dropped the vst host bit. Probably intending to replace it with DAW interoperability.kiezum wrote:In a review of Spectralayer 2 in Sound on Sound I read you can process with 64bit VST plugins, but I can't find that feature in version 4. Couldn't resist, I jumped on the offer before the sale ended. Samplitude looks old school and all but has a multi-track editor, it's brillant. Really love the object editor.
Stuck in Aperture Laboratories for a 2nd time!

How does that daw interoperability work? And I wonder if it was smart to remove VST plugin support.pekbro wrote:Looks like the feature was removed by Sony in version 3... The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

You can link Sound Forge and Spectral Layers Pro to Samplitude from File > Program Preferences > External tools. Once that is done you can right click on an audio object and choose to edit the audio in either of these programs.

Very clear! And I just add that when the Forge or SpectraLeyrs is closed, the audio file is automatically saved in Samplitude.
In this way, Sound Forge/SpectraLayers acts as a turbo-charged Wave Editor, a very powerful adition to Samplitude's environment.

I've tried launching Spectralayers from inside Samplitude. The program opens just fine, but I'm unable to get any sound while working in Spectralayers (note: works fine if used as a standalone application). I do get sound if I hit play inside Samplitude, but not SP4.
I've made sure both are using the same audio driver (Asio4all), and I've also set windows to not allow an application to take exclusive control of audio devices.
Any ideas?

I'm not having that problem although I use RME drivers with my RayDat. Could it be that Asio for all isn't multiclient?

Try to change the driver for, for example WDM and do a play in both programs. With Samplitude open, press letter "Y". I solved my problem in this way, but I know WDM is not a good driver.

Hmm, switching to WDM in Samplitude seems to work.Johnny Blade wrote:Try to change the driver for, for example WDM and do a play in both programs. With Samplitude open, press letter "Y". I solved my problem in this way, but I know WDM is not a good driver.
I tried Asio4all and Magix Low Latency 2016, neither of those work. Might have to play with settings more to see if I can get them running.

As far I know, with ASIO drivers you can play in only one program at same time.
