Or maybe, leave Sylenth1 alone!
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

marketing folks. it got in the hands of kids that where in the middle of an exploding scene, who then told everyone to use sylenth1. LD then stood back and let it happen naturally. like i said earlier, it's a high quality piece of kit. good oscillators, good filters. you won't do anything new with it, but due to the preset crowd you won't do anything new with synthesis anymore anyway. it just sounds good and was there at the right time. the secret seems to be "get there first."

With all the synths I own (way too many to name) I don't own Sylenth1. There is just nothing special about it that I can't do with any number of other synths.Dasheesh wrote: Sat Nov 24, 2018 2:30 pm marketing folks. it got in the hands of kids that where in the middle of an exploding scene, who then told everyone to use sylenth1. well, i like sylenth for the same reasons the people who got ahold of it liked it. it's a high quality instrument. it sounds good, it behaves right, and it's built solid. i've thought about buying it many times, but not at 160+ price. hey, if he can get it, more power to him. much like moog, he got there first.

For me one of the advantages is the inviting GUI, which scales as I please, is very easy on my eyes, and very responsive, hardly any clicking required. I can use the synth without having to wear my glasses, which is good as I am wearing my headphones a lot, which however press the glasses against my head that it hurts after a while.wagtunes wrote: Sat Nov 24, 2018 2:35 pmWith all the synths I own (way too many to name) I don't own Sylenth1. AKG 240. Very comfortable headphones and very good for mixing. They're not cheap but they're worth it. I can wear them for hours with no problem.fluffy_little_something wrote: Sat Nov 24, 2018 3:35 pmFor me one of the advantages is the inviting GUI, which scales as I please, is very easy on my eyes, and very responsive, hardly any clicking required. You can currently get the K240 for $40 at Sweetwater. That is not the K240-MkII which is $107wagtunes wrote: Sat Nov 24, 2018 3:42 pm

But you really should not get good headphones for Sylenth... it will then be too obvious what a weak and lifeless synth it is

But how do you really feel about Sylenth 1 ? I'm sensing some dissatisfaction.......

Samson SR950 aren't dirt, just priced like it.
There is a lot to be said about the ease of use and accessibility of Sylenth too. There isn't much learning involved. Easily accessible and it's boundaries also let LD put quality where it counts and leave it light. If you want to be the most popular, you have to be the most accessible.

you have to think about why these guys are using it. i mean, they are not exactly doing it for the love and interest of synthesis are they? a lot of times they don't even bother to plug in their laptops. they don't want to think about it, they want no thought processes involved.

I'd only have dissatisfaction if I had purchased itTeksonik wrote: Sat Nov 24, 2018 3:56 pm But how do you really feel about Sylenth 1 ? I'm sensing some dissatisfaction.......![]()

Any time we talk about a synth that's been around for a dozen years it must have some appeal or it would have faded into history.
Factor in Sylenth 1's range of sound has remained virtually untouched in those years and there must be something about the quality of the sound that people find appealing.

I currently use the SR850 and they are probably the best headphones I've ever used.
