Using AAS Chromaphone in Ableton Live 11 - a physical modelling synth that’s good for plucks and percussion. It has some decent onboard effects too.

I’ll check the instances later but I think there were about 30. No external effects except Youlean, which says it’s -14.5 last I looked.

Hi everyone,
Last minute submission...Here's my latest mash-up/smash-up, entitled "Questionable Things", which features everyone's favorite replicant, the Tyrell Nexus 6. This folly may be seen as a sort of sequel to my last OSC piece, but with a different free synth and different sci-fi/fantasy/musical inspirations. Maybe less cheesy? Or maybe not...

Besides sporting 30 instances of U-he's grungiest (IMHO) synth (plus a whole lotta lovely effects plugins), the track travels off-world to pay tribute to the Vangelis soundtrack, to re-live '70s funk/disco, to search for Robin Hood in Sherwood Forest, and to get trapped in an endless EDM riser. It was (mostly) fun to make, and I learned a lot while creating it. Enjoy!

Edit for clarification: Made in Studio One with an array of S1, commercial, and free plugins, mostly for compression, EQ, panning/imaging, limiting, delay, reverb, and mild saturation. No samples, no distortion, no modulation (except Tyrell's built-in chorus), and all original patches except for some of the percussion that were tweaked presets.

Well, I feel stupid. I never did an OSC before, and I decided since this month was any synth, I would do something.

I almost grabbed MPowerSynth, but then decided to use Vital instead. (I have major regrets) I spent the first half of the month making presets and learning how to do new, wonderful things with Vital. I learned how to abuse the sampler (foreshadowing) and resynthesis to make amazing sounds.

I then decided to use only sounds I made from scratch, including all wavetables (uh-oh) and samples.

Now in the final hour, my internet source is blocking soundcloud. Look up rules to see if I can use a different platform, or if I should run into town for Wi-Fi, and what do I see?

No use of samples, sample libraries or live sounds (like voice, guitar etc allowed).

I'm an idiot.

I guess this gives me time to properly finish a few aspects that aren't release ready. I've been sick all week, so I didn't have much time to finish it. Something something about every lining having a silver cloud, yada yada sour grapes and sad puppies and all that.

I should have stuck with MPowerSynth.

On the bright side, I now have an awesome track made exclusively in Vital ready to hit Spotify, and an amazing bank of presets to release soon!

I've chosen Logic's built-in physical modelling synth, Sculpture. This one doesn't get talked about too much but it's capable of some quite unique sounds. It's unruly though and can be difficult to tame in the context of a full track. I was aiming for an "electronic chamber music" aesthetic, with a lot of harmonic motion and expressive use of rubato/tempo automation.

For effects I used only the stock Logic FX (compressor, limiter, chromaverb, channel EQ, phat FX)
