3rd to last for me :(
I keep going backwards.

I don't understand how "loris16148 - 6th Element" got zero 1's shouldn't we all be voting 1 point for our own track at least?
There are still way more 1's and 2's than I would be expecting to see too all over the field given I would expect most tracks should be getting an average of 3 some of us are incredibly harsh markers I think.
My favorite position in the first few rounds! :hihi: Don't despair, but just do the analysis. Surely you have been left comments? Not to change yourself, but to work on yourself is the best way to success (whatever it is for you)! :tu:

Judging by the table, Loris did not vote and was disqualified. That's the answer.

Well, other participants just have other reference frames, which is often discussed in different branches. Some people want to have the maximum range of ratings and I understand them, although I rarely drop below three points myself)
No 1's means DQ I hadn't thought of that lol.

Yeah, I got comments and in fact, have just uploaded a I hope better mixed version which I would love some feedback on it again if possible. I didn't change much of the layout of the track as I plan on doing a remix of it soon and I like to keep the essence of the entered version live and alongside any improvements I might make later.

Hey, great round, many unexpected, pleasant surprises from that "mature" plugin!
Congratulations to the winners, a well deserved victory for Plan C!
Probably not my turn yet, but I'm gonna hand down my prize; thanks anyway to organizers and sponsors!

Brainbeat, the mix isn't the issue. It just would work better as a ten minute minimalist techno track. Which... that genre might not do great here... But for three minutes long there's not much happening. Not much melody or development. The sounds and the mix are fine and in the right situation it's fine as is. Just less impressive than many others. I have thought some of your previous tracks scored lower than I had them.

Congratulations to TheNeverScene, your track is very well deserved of its no. 1 place and you pushed the synth in a really great direction. I found that V-Station really has a unique character because of its tone shaping and built-in effects, which when pushed led to some very interesting sound design like yours! I thought the variety of sounds was wonderful across this whole month.

And for everyone who voted and commented; thank you so much. These challenges and the community are some of the most fun I've had in music for a long time.

The acoustic sounds I did were helped a lot by the built-in phaser being pushed very hard but with no modulation, it gives the tone a comb filtered, slight ringing effect that makes it sound like it's resonating from something. It's not a pleasant sound on almost anything else, and it also results in a very limited dynamic and pitch range, but it was a fun experiment!

I don't think my turn has arrived yet so I shall wait until everyone has announced theirs. Again, thank you everyone for being so generous!

I totally get that it could have used more variations etc it is what it is so no issues there as I hope to get around to making it into a longer piece later. I have made some changes to the mix and replaced the track which I think has improved the balance of the track based on feedback as well as a new pair of headphones noticed instruments that were too loud on the track and I think in general the mids were a bit lower making it sound relatively quiet. So I think this is how I would have at least liked to have presented my track in terms of mixing or a lot closer at least.

Thanks for the comments about my previous work too. I guess the tastes here seem by many seem to be less into modern EDM and more into more "Old school" uses of synths which is fine it just means I have to work harder on making better music.

when a progressive metal tune made with an old subtractive analog vst wins the osc i dont think people are voting based on old school

all kinds of styles have done well in osc

I had to get reminded to pick a price... sorry about that and thank you, Richard!
Well, can't see anything I want... so... go head 4th and pick freely what's left! :)

Ahahahaha, sorry, I read a little upwards through the posts and it made me giggle. There was a time when almost exclusively dubstep and trance would be in the top 5. EDM appeared to be the only successful genre. But then...well...the rest of us came and pushed all sorts of stuff into sight. That even helped some of our die-hard dubsteppers to really come out of their shell and do absolutely beautiful stuff beyond "pure technique", but with that expert understanding.

Seems like many of us, however, did live vividly through the 70's and 80's of the last century, hehehe...well, heck.

I've just had a very informal look at the past few winners and I think there has been a good diversity of styles (don't shoot me for inaccuracies of styles!)

TheNeverScene - Plan C : Progressive Metal
Vospi - Electronic Music Cares About You : Modern EDM
ZioMau - Four Times : Jazz fusion?
J5v - Surge Storm: Cinematic
MilksterX - Wibble Mechanics : Techno Funk?
Taron - Biding TIme : Smooth Jazz?

I think it's great that most genres have the potential to get the top spot. If it was always the same genre - it would put people off.

I think everyone here knows that when we talk about Electronic Dance Music (EDM) we are referring to a large number of genres and sub-genres. Some quite different from each other.

Some experts in the study of music claim that some genres of EDM have their origins in music from the 70s.
As I saw in a documentary a couple of months ago the producers of one of the Bee Gees songs had to manually cut and paste a magnetic tape containing a drum part, and this experiment was the first drum loop. That song was one of the themes of the movie Saturday Night Fever. I saw that movie in a theater in 1977, the year it was released.

Indeed! "I Feel Love" by Donna Summer and Giorgio Moroder was produced in 1977. If I didn't know better - I'd class it as 90s Trance :D
