Excuse me good sirs and madames, I am terribly, terribly sorry to interrupt this scintillating discussion of intellectual property, but I was wondering if one of you fine gents or lasses could perchance explain how one might use this marvelous device to constitute the sound heard at the commencement of the canticle Thomas Sawyer by the musical trio called Rush from the provinces of Canada.

I saw it! If it wasn't you that posted it, I can at least confirm that SOMEONE did.baconpaul wrote: Thu Jul 31, 2025 9:25 pm I swear I answered that yesterday but it seems not.
That video uses a prophet. But same thing will work here

I would like the Surge team to consider the old linux Phasex synth, 4 osc 4 lfo, effects, but the gui
is terrible at displaying the capabilities, every 'panel' looks identical to all of the others. A gui makeover would make creating new sounds much easier.

I'm not sure. Raboof had just barely fixed it. And now it's back. It makes me worried, because I've been writing my Fedora Linux Audio tuning guide there and my Virtualization guide there. I'd really, really hate to lose all of that research and work. I'm starting to think I may need to get on GitHub and make a couple of Gists for my documentation--just in case.

Just took a quick look at the GitHub repoglokraw wrote: Thu Jul 31, 2025 10:23 pm I would like the Surge team to consider the old linux Phasex synth, 4 osc 4 lfo,
A million miles from anything modern. An old GTK interface, not a plugin, c code, an old school unix only makefile, and also terms in addition to the GPL about use of the output which seem a bit problematic. I don't think this is one for us, sorry.

Thanks for the detailed explanation! Curious, would your team's work qualify you to attend NAMM as developers with a booth? Or as vacationing attendees?
Might be a fun week, maybe even kidnap some unsuspecting coders

I think to qualify for a NAMM booth you just need to buy a NAMM booth. But no, surge team wont be there.glokraw wrote: Fri Aug 01, 2025 4:52 am Thanks for the detailed explanation! Curious, would your team's work qualify you to attend NAMM as developers with a booth? Or as vacationing attendees?
Few of us were at super booth last year (I was not). Few or us were at ADC also (I also was not). I might go to one of those one year.

yeah the 2 minutes to 90% tom sawyer is inevitably followed by 2 hours to 98%! I was just hoping to show OP the basic idea.Examigan wrote: Sat Aug 02, 2025 1:01 pmThat’s close to what I didbaconpaul wrote: Thu Jul 31, 2025 9:50 pm And here's a little vid of me on my laptop now doing similar with obxf at head starting at the init patch and just feeding it midi note 28 on a sequence while i edit.
but I also turned up the envelope and filter variation amounts more, and panned each voice in different directions.
I think unison 3 sounds a bit better too. etc
