In the case of BFD3, nothing would have been significantly better.felis wrote: Thu May 14, 2026 10:32 am
The bottom line for all the companies absorbed by inMusic is - would you rather have that, or nothing?
Native Instruments to be acquired by inMusic

Based on my 1st hand experience with inMusic I don't really see any differencefelis wrote: Thu May 14, 2026 10:32 amThe bottom line for all the companies absorbed by inMusic is - would you rather have that, or nothing?IvyBirds wrote: Wed May 13, 2026 6:35 pm ........Ultimately that's all inMusic will do with Native Instruments. Minimal investment or innovation just repackaged same old same old
If inMusic does nothing with the NI products I use, from an end users perspective there isn't any difference than if NI just went under
Two weeks ago FM8, Absynth, Massive, Massive X, and Kontact were all working fine on my computer. Five years from now they will still be working fine on my computer if I choose to use them
InMusic buying NI and not developing them with new features means five years from now nothing will be different. I will still have the same plugins I had pre merger making the same sounds in the same way
Of course if this happens I probably won't be using any of them anyway in five years so it's all moot anyway
I hope they continue to be developed with new, innovative, exciting features, and my fears are proven wrong, but I doubt they will be

InMusic is doing fantastic things with Akai and the MPCs, just like all investment companies it really depends on the bottom line, same as any company really. Do I like the layer of abstraction that a parent company brings? nope. Does it seem like InMusic have bought a half dozen failed companies and done nothing really with them? yep!
Doesn't change the fact that Akai are doing great, and I would say without reservation that Inmusic will do the same thing with NI, they aren't going to be the Sonivox in their line up. Of course some of this depends on how relations go between NI and InMusic, but I'm betting it goes more like Akai than BFD.

I'm inclined to agree. The difference here is that BFD3 was already in the toilet when InMusic got involved. As far as anyone knew, until the announcement was made about the financial difficulties NI appeared to be doing fine.
