Squids, I think your demos are GREAT :D very impressive! That said, they aren't the greatest SOUNDING, if you know what I mean - the fact that they're played with the in-built combi's is impressive, but that's more an indication of the quality of your playing and the quality of the combi's than the quality of the actual material in the library.

I like what you're saying about the combi stuff, though. I definitely agree about the I-Map setup - it really helps me to play the rhythm by hand along with the rest of the material initially, and then program it once I'm sure of what exactly I want it to sound like. I don't think it will be the same way for me with the orchestral combi's for various reasons, but it's nice that they'll be there as an addition.

As to the FLStudio thing - has that huge bug that disabled rendering MIDI automation in many hosts been fixed for Philharmonik? I know it's going to be fixed in 2.1, but since Philharmonik is not based directly on 2.1, I wanted to make sure that the same applies - especially considering its significance in an orchestral library.

Also, I would really like to make some Philharmonik demo's once I get it :D I'll make one, either way - but then if IK/SR likes it, can it be put up as a demo? That would be cool :P

I disagree that it isn't great SOUNDING. Of course I don't know what monitors or MP3 player you are using either. It sounds pretty darn good over here. ;) But, its subjective so who knows? You'll have demo riffs to go by soon as well as more demos when it is released. No sound collection pleases everyone. This one will sound really good to a lot of people though. I mean, it is already based on the Miroslav libraries which many already love. So, there's a lot of reasons to love this that much more (besides the price difference as well).

I do look forward to a lot of user demos. That will be a fun aspect of this product as I have seen with other orchestral products. People sharing their music is a great thing.

Maybe I'm just not the afficionado I'm supposed to be, but I thought the Dvorak demo sounded WONDERFUL - and that was on my tinny computer speakers.

I mean - how close do you actually have to get? I still felt chills up my spine with what was produced by Miro. I think it should get the job done for my music as long as I learn a little better how to program orchestral instruments.

Bring it on Squids - Bring it on!

There is a degree of snobbery at work over there because the MV is percieved as 'old' and that makes it automatically obsolete to their way of thinking.
Well.. really, what I and several other posters were saying was that MV is great, Philharmonik is even better, and that the demos don't seem to be reflecting that (yet), which is not an attack at all. I am very much looking forward to Philharmonik being the owner of several SR products already!
I apologize if my comments offended anyone. I did not wish to imply that everyone who is a member of that forum is a snob, nor anyone an actual snob. what I mean is a certain 'nose-up' attitude to new orchestral libraries particularily if they are from previously relesed material.

I also agree that the demos are not the greatest in the world by any means, but I prefer to hear what can be done 'on the fly' so to speak and without loads of tweaking and massaging of midi data.

As someone else mentioned here, one can hear good things happening in those sounds, so that the potential was there.

I realize that seasoned working pros like a few of the members there will not be too impressed by anything that isn't aimed squarely at their professional needs, like VSL or QLSO Platinum.

I know many of the members there are also here (like me :) ) so I'm not trying to dump on them over here.

Miroslav Philharmonik is very professional. Even though it isn't as large in size and as expensive as say VSL or some others it can actually do a number of things that those others can't. Ironically, even the size of the violin ensemble is actually larger in Miroslav (23 violins as opposed to 18 or less). It also has 11 violins. But, those are just specs anyway. The most important aspect of a music product being professional is getting great musical results from it. That is totally possible and where you may not have one fancy feature from another you may have something that gets you what you were after faster perhaps. You could even say that is a reason that SampleTank itself is also very professional even though it doesn't have every feature Giga or Kontakt has. It's DIFFERENT and designed with a speed of creativity in mind as opposed to an "impressive specs" for doing everything under the sun. As I say many times, I like to have BOTH of those capabilities (to be able to have tools that are highly efficient and to also have tools that are highly flexible and deep). That's why as much as I love my SampleTank powered products (and Sampletank itself), I also appreciate my Kontakt 2 and Giga3 even if I don't necessarily use them as much. It's nice to know I can when I need to. I know that is a luxury that not everyone can afford, so we do our best to get the things we think we'll use the most. That's the best value for your money isn't it? How much use you'll actually get out of something you buy?

Does this mean that the preorders should be leaving soon.

Post

Pre-orders will be leaving when we have it in stock. It's not back from press yet. There's some cool stuff in the box like a manual and I think there's a little poster too (forgive me if I am wrong on that but it could just be!) plus the new IK box is just SWEET looking! So, I expect first week of August as a quess but it could be sooner.

Oh by the way... I guess I can let another couple of cats out of bags. Two things that have been asked for are in it. One is switching of articulations on the fly. We found a unique way to do it with the ST2 engine. It's not the easiest thing to set up on our end but we made it so it works very easily for the user. More on that in a bit.

The other little feature is scrolling the bank of sounds on the PC VST version... most likely added because of you guys and because I mentioned it a bunch of times. Eventually that will probably be put into a ST2 revision as well (not sure about ST2.1 but maybe). So, there you go. Can you tell that IK and SR CARE? You guys said you loved the way it sounded through CSR so we included a piece of CSR, you wanted switching, scrolling, more patches, more features, introductory low price, crossgrade from ST2 discount, crossgrade if you owned Miroslav lib before and got all of that and more... now all I ask is that you go pre-order it ;) http://www.esoundz.com/details/viewDeta ... ductID=543

Just kidding. Well, not really. I know a lot of you guys want this or will and don't know it yet. We'll just keep doing our best to show you more and more and more until you can't resist. ;) But, that's fun though isn't it? Why else would you be hanging around on forums like this if it wasn't fun?

Post

Ah - this last sales pitch would have snagged me Squids.....that is - except for the fact that I've already pre-ordered it. :D

Can't believe you put the switching in! Bloody marvellous! I had assumed this was not going to be possible.

Great work. Can't wait to try it.

I'm ready to preorder it again too, Squids. This just sounds better all the time. When do we find out what the special suprise is for signing up early??? Scrolling in Philharmonik,,, WOO HOO ! :o

Post

Can anyone tell me when the pre-order ends? I understand that the cost hits my credit card on ordering so I'd like to make that as late as possible (hitting the August bill rather than the July bill would be good!).

I've just ordered a new PC and want to start filling the discs up but I could do without the cost of that and of Miroslav in the same month :-o

If the pre-order ends soon then I'll just have to bite the bullet and hope that the dog eats the credit card bill before the wife sees it (note to self - must buy a dog).

Derek.

I think it extends into August but I think Squids would have to confirm that.

Sorry - I should have been more specific. I want to buy the cross-grade from ST2 L and I want to buy it from eSoundz (the "buying" bit is clearly defined, it's the "paying" bit I need help with :) )

So, September 30th sounds about right. A month over Summer. I think that is enough time. It could have just gone up at launch (because the costs went up for us) but we didn't want to disappoint anyone who was planning to get it for that price since January.

There are some unique things about this product for IK and SR that are new glimpses of what might come in the future. The sounds have to be authorized as well as the plug-in. But, the cool thing is that for the first time we have sounds that can also be DE-authorized too. That means that it might finally be possible to consider letting people resell it if they really wanted/needed to because at least it becomes more like hardware in that it can only be in one place at one time. For me that is the main concern with license agreements although there are also many other aspects too. So, don't take that as the official word on it but the good news is that the doors are opening for more flexibility for the user. The authorization is also done to where you CAN finally now wipe your entire system as much as you want and not have to get a new ID and re-authorize etc etc. At least I think this is the case (I rarely do that myself but conceptually I should be right because it obtains the digital ID from a different place than usual). There are even some other benefits too (it just keeps pouring out huh?).

I notice that every time I put the link a mini-flood of pre-orders comes in on www.esoundz.com so I might as well promote a bit more if you don't mind. We don't do the whole price-wars thing on esoundz, it's a little different. It's more like a "club" and the more involved you get with referals or purchases the more you save that way. But, even if you are a new customer we do have something special that no one else offers and that's SOUNDZ. So, just to let you know we are going to have a special "bonus combi performance disc" free for anyone who pre-orders the Philharmonik full or crossgrade from esoundz.com That's a little gift for your support and patience.

I don't know what else we can do for incentives at this point. I've done my best to make it fun to be the first to get it. Now it is up to you if you're ready for it. Here's the link: http://www.esoundz.com/details/viewDeta ... ductID=543
