Any progress on the Wav import/vst state save issues ie. Sequencer saved state reloaded...bank/prog saves wav info?

I'm itching for the drums mode function to save the imported wav file info.

when ever you do get that issue fixed, I'll be posting a new user bank with custom waveforms.

Question, is that dry sound in xhip due to your filter design?

It seems to be the same dry sound I get from my TR-Rack module.

It is a good dry sound that goes well with a plate of xhip effects.

xhip sounds exactly like a sh-101 or juno, or similar vanilla synthesizers. that's due only to the architecture and the correct implementation of all components. the "unclean" nature of a lot of software is due to aliasing, limited ranges (a filter that only does 12k for example) or other similar issues.

your other questions: http://xhip.cjb.net/xhip/todo

as you can see in the "finished" section, i've only spent a single day coding xhip in the last six months.

thanks for the explanations, and i'll stop buggin ya 'bout the wav stuff.
im just anxious thats all. Its the only thing stopping me from buying a hardware sampler. :D

Yeah, "Clinical"or clean would probably be more representative of what I'm hearing. again thanks.

Long time i watch this thread, and want to ask about unison mode -
It is real to make knob, that makes unison voices spreading in stereo-fiеld?
(Like one in Sylenth1)

Post

a unison-spread feature is on the to-do list.

you will be able to set different types of spread or random levels for any parameter in unison mode. it will be the same as the mod matrix / "event routing" except that it will take into account the unison voice when calculating the amount of modulation to each parameter.

you should be able to select a "linear distribution" and set it to panning, this will act the way you want.

there is quite a lot of work left to do before i can implement that. it isn't a simple matter of adding a knob.

also - xhip is a MONO synthesizer, therefore it is impossible to pan the oscillators individually, you can only pan the complete voice. (including oscillators, filter, waveshaper, etc)

Is there any chance you'll be releasing the source code for xhip?

Post

it's been available for two years. what are you interested in specifically?

Post

Loving the latest version (or the latest stable one, whatever .6.17.5 is) but there's a bit of a bug in Tracktion 2. So far every preset has the volume instantly go to zero as soon as play or record is hit on the transport. I haven't checked if the same thing happens offline but I will Sunday. Bit of a bummer this one is, though. :(

Sorry if this has been covered, I haven't been to this thread in quite a while.

I also believe it would be really great example for everyone! (means more good free vsts)
Murderous duck!

the source of xhip is an extremely bad example for anything to be based upon in the future.

first, it's out-dated by now and uses a static structure - these days things should be more modular. (talking about in code here...)

second, it's all in integer, which should prove nearly impossible for most people to understand.

third, it uses per-sample processing which is quite stupid for the majority of sounds people want to make.

fourth, it's mono/single channel, which is again quite stupid for the majority of sounds people want to make.

i could come up with more issues, the most obvious one is this though: fifth, it wouldn't lead to more quality freeware, it would lead to more shitty commercial plugins.

again, it's ALREADY available, just let me know what you're interested in and why and we can discuss / share code.

i was also fooling around a little bit with the branis gui as you can see here:

The link is not working anymore :( Even with the space removed. I had an earlier version a long time ago, and I would love to see how it progressed! :)

it's no longer possible to link directly to files at xhip.cjb.net. instead, grab the file from the releases page.

i had to do this in order to prevent sites from linking to older versions and then having people complain about bugs i fixed years ago.

when a release file is linked, it should redirect you directly to the releases page where you can click on "recommended version" to get it, generally.

Such dedication and pride :D

Nice, haven't checked this out in a while although I use a few instances of xhip every day, looks like drop down boxes work now?
