That's not good.
We'll see ...
Oh well,

Problem solved, well -ish anyway. It's the amp, my Cube 15X, the same guitar/leads used with my VOX AD15VT is all but silent no matter how much gain I use. Strange that it only happens with the one amp tho'Ian B wrote:I finally got round to replacing the faulty jack socket on my AcePro AE625 today, after the best part of 2 months unplayed it's like having a brand new guitar again![]()
The downside is, tho' it was like this before so it's nothing I've done, the bridge bucker is pretty noisy when used with distortion. It's not s/c > distortion noisy, but compared to how quiet the neck pup is it surely means something is wrong, but I can't for the life of me see what

(the pups are both Swineshead Condors and pretty hot)
Any suggestions as to what may be going on here?
Some nice stuff there at Warmoth - and pre-finished, which is something I can't do! Thanks for the info!!!Hink wrote:buy a squier first like you said but why bother working backwards? If all you need is a body and neck and you'll do the rest than warmoth is you answer. See the diy forum here for links to warmoth and other guitar part dealers
Very cool! I'd like to do this one with your mod:susiwong wrote:As you see, tone control only works in positions 2,3,4, the split ones.

I imagine you could use push/pull pots and add split as well to each humbucker giving it some strat single coil tone (note I said some)Uncle E wrote:Very cool! I'd like to do this one with your mod:susiwong wrote:As you see, tone control only works in positions 2,3,4, the split ones.
hibidy, I highly recommend putting in susiwong's mod, you'll get a better balance between the pickup positions this way. One problem I've had with splitting pickups is they always sound harsh, either because of the 500K volume pot or just because they're weaker than normal single coils, so getting the tone pot on the split positions takes care of that while leaving the humbucking positions as they ought to sound.
btw, one of my favorite pickups for splitting is the Air Zone.
haha!susiwong wrote:You'll need a big switch for that ...hibidy wrote:Hmmmmmmmmmm.![]()
But then, bridge HB and 10 small middle PUs, why not ?![]()
Serious or paralyzed wiring ?
Here's a quick diagram off the top of my head.
Not sure about #13 and #37 yet ...![]()

The noise doesn't work for me. Check out what I just got:Hink wrote:I imagine you could use push/pull pots and add split as well to each humbucker giving it some strat single coil tone (note I said some)
Warmoth or eBay FTWHink wrote: warmoth is you answer.
I'm the same way but both sets of pups that have been in my Daion had/has split (not ir's an on/on/on so I get series/parallel too...noise isn't an issue here but before I took this apartment I walked around with an am radio. The fact that you can switch it on off and add it so cheap and easy why not have itUncle E wrote:The noise doesn't work for me.
