how come the pilot lights are not on nor do the speaker cones ever move? :hihi:

I am more worried about that nasty marl-grey Gold's gym vest and lycra tight heavily stone washed jeans combo. Oh MAB has a T-Rex signature OD pedal, Here is his studio/gear tour:

Dunno mate, But well this guy whom you will all know just has alot of nice guitars given to him like they are free. Including an 'Uli' sky...He don't seem very arsed about his stuff though  -

Edit: As much as i again dislike signature stuff, The Marshall Malmsteen head is really good as an allround modded plexi and not just a one sound wonder. Actually i didn't know it was his signature model until i looked round back. So to be fair he has put together a good product thier with Marshall  If i had alot of money i would have one but i just wouldn't use it that often and on my budget as is to justify one and course YMMV. If anyone gets chance then try one and i think you would be surprised how not signature they are :D

The Malmstreet strat is a fantastic instrument. It's the only signature guitar I can imagine myself playing.

btw, regarding the location in your signature:

I should have known not to turn that on :x

Over at the ibby forum, someone posted this:

Really? I always thought it was higher at the first string (passive pickups)

Uggg....the older I get, the less wise I get...it's like rules I knew for sure suddenly change

Also very nice ! :D
Here's the background and wiring :

Close to the bottom of the page.
Uncle E wrote:I enjoy it because it's so dead easy to do, especially on a PRS, Gibson, or tele where you don't even have to take the pickguard off. Today I was getting some great strat tones by simply riding the treble bleed on the volume control into my Key Lime compressor pedal.
That's the spirit ! :tu:

Here's another split variant, ideal for guitars you don't want to / can't mod with extra switches (pardon the crude drawing "mod" , didn't find it anywhere atm).
Handy e.g. for LPs with long shaft pots, semis etc.
Image
No extra parts needed, it's only a rewired tone pot.

Tone pot 10 = coil split
Tone pot 8 to 10 = gradual blend to HB
Tone pot 8 = full HB
Tone pot 8 to 0 = full HB with standard tone control

So tone control will not work in split mode, but hey ...
You can only split one HB per tone pot this way, obviously, but on most Gibsons and many others you have dual tone controls anyway.

Have fun,
susiwong

PS: That "north/south finish" thing is simply where you'd connect a regular coil split, e.g. with Duncans it's where the red and white wires are connected.

I can dig this setup. Thin out the neck and toughen up the bridge, it sounds like a good thing to me!

I dont want to bother Meffy but I wish I could move all these posts to the diy forum...you guys wouldn't mind copying them would yah? (if not I will if you dont mind) I'll start a pick-up wiring/mods thread now :tu:

Agreed, this wiring stuff would be better put in the DIY section, but it just developed here somehow ...
At least it's guitar related.

Btw, I went overboard with these wirings in the past, but nowadays I find I rather keep my guitars stock except for the odd Megaswitch in F-styles.
No matter what you do, electronics will only take you so far, the bigger part of a guitar's tone is determined by it's physical construction.

Ymmv,

EDIT:

Hink,
crosspost !
By all means go ahead if you want.
You could leave a link here to the new thread, perhaps ...
