I'm not sure auto-update is working (yet/properly) - I have to go to my account and download the latest versions manually.

Matt said he won't trigger the auto-update for these "minor updates" - not sure if I follow his reasoning there, since this makes the autoupdate look broken and useless and will lead to endless questions.
I'd assume People want bugs fixed - I certainly do. And if somebody doesn't want the updates, he/she can always disable the auto updater...
Cheers,
Tom

I'm a bit confused why people think Vital auto-updates instead of just checks for updates. I should probably change something in those settings to make this more clear. I just have it look and see if there's an update available, if there is it will direct you to the download.ThomasHelzle wrote: Fri Jan 15, 2021 5:43 pm Matt said he won't trigger the auto-update for these "minor updates" - not sure if I follow his reasoning there, since this makes the autoupdate look broken and useless and will lead to endless questions.

I don't want to notify everyone everytime there's an update. I probably will when versions are more spread apart but right now I'm going to wait until I've nailed down most of the common bugs to notify everyone.

I don't follow. Exactly now people want exactly those initial bugs fixed and you would also show them that things are happening and Vital is alive... It's not as if there is an update every day.
If it doesn't do that, no matter what the version step, I don't think that is what people expect from an update check...
If on the other hand you want the current updates as a kind of open beta for testing, then call them that and make it clear that the update check will only look for release versions - then it would make sense.
Cheers - and THANKS!!!!

Literally just launched Vital 1.04 standalone (on Windows 10 x64): there's no message informing me of an update. "Check for Updates" is checked. Matt, I just think this functionality isn't working as expected. At least on some systems. Same thing happened when 1.04 was released.

yeah I have never gotten via the app that there is a newer version.
I usually find out on discord, then check my account via my browser.
