Might I recommend, as a person related to many carpenters, Robertson screws? If it weren't for a somewhat moronic inventor, they would have taken over decades ago.
Surely there must be consensus by now...

But maybe you could make it screw-skinnable, so we can remove the flatheads and add, say, a phillips or robertson...

Why didn't you say so before? You'd save a lot of people plenty of hassle...

I think with the current setup in VST 2.x you might need a separate sidechain capable version (AFAIK some hosts will not work with the plugin (or all projects where the other stereo in/stero out version was used might have problems) if you just add another pair of inputs.
The sidechain version usually has two stereo inputs and in sidechain mode the signal coming into the additional pair of inputs drives the detector and the compression is applied to the through signal which enters via the other pair of inputs.
Eg if you are using kick drum into the sidechain and you want the bass to duck the kick, you would insert the sidechain version into the bass channel and have the compressor envelope triggered by the kickdrum routed to the sidechain input.
I Cubase SX you use a Quadro group to set this up - so route your bass signal to one stereo input and the kick drum to the other.

yes. (despite egberts super convoluted response)ddummer wrote:...and that would just be a second stereo input where the envelope curve is applied

I just mentioned some of the issues which came up when I was testing betas of some other sidechain-capable comps if Daniel is considering this idea. There are other things of course - eg how do you handle mono signals.

Precise! If you got a stereo sidechain input should all the features like stereo linkThere are other things of course - eg how do you handle mono signals.
ect be directed to the sidechain input.. in other words you run the plug as normal'
only that you use the sidechain input as input instead and the sound out is what came
out on the normal input affected by the compressor.
Mono is auto selected if the left input buffer is pointing to the same address as the right
where you can assume that it is a mono signal input.
(4 in 2 out) OR (4 in 4 out) ?
