I made it (actually over) a month. Can't believe it actually

But now NI has that jaybass just eggin' me on, and unlike trilian (which isn't working out at all) prebass really does work well...it's just a limited sound.

Then that ol' pro q.......she's a calling hard..............

Anyways, I went my month but I really only want to buy one of the two so I'm in a bit of a quandry......

Well, there's a difference between not buying anything and buying only what you need.

Yeah, right. :hihi:

So what you are saying is a month isn't good enough and that I don't need any of it?

Not really. Unless you have other uses for the money, you should buy what appeals to you.

I just discovered the solution.
For the past three months i bought sooo much gear (software and hardware) that it will take me years to install, connect, read the manuals, try all the presets, try to use them for actual music-making, etc.
So, why buy anything new when i've not played with my latest toys yet?
Also, buying secondhand gear with small flaws not only secures a super low price, but also keeps you occupied for months trying to repair the "flaws".
After many months, you have a working piece of hardware that costed almost nothing AND kept you away from thinking about new purchases...
:hihi: :help:

Yeah, the use what you got method....very funny (though I've been doing that to some degree)

At least I can say with these two potential buys they are things I'd use like crazy. The eq is essential and has become my favorite thing of late (still have about 10 days on the demo I think, maybe more)

Post

the thread title says I wont buy "more" but that doesn't mean you have buy less, so along as you don't buy more than usual you're all set :tu:

What he said (or at least that's how I'm going to justify it from now on). :hihi:

To me Pro Q is a great buy because it can be used on anything, whereas many of the one trick effects often have limited value...IMO, of course.

I did get the "jay bass" last week. Pretty good. Mucho good resource wise! I still have 5 days eval left on the pro q, but chances are I'll probably get it.

Not too bad, but I'll have to re-start my clock!

I'm passing though on all these little "ultimate" buys and group buys though. Money needs to be focused....

Post

I caved and bought the eq. I just couldn't deal anymore once the eval ran out....coincidence?? :hihi:

So I blew it on those three (sonic fiction is the only bummer as it's really hard on the system) but I'm off on another "no buy" period. This time going for feb 1st. The only thing on my radar is some form of new computer, but that is set at a march 1st at earliest limit.

So it looks like maybe I'll get some time away from the whole "buy buy" habit for some time.

It's easy. I haven't bought any new plugin for about 3 years, I think. I may have downloaded one or two freebies in that time, and tried dozens of demos, but I can guarantee I haven't used any of it. I have bought a few SE modules, but that doesn't count. You just have to separate need from want and have the discipline to act accordingly.

Right..the last thing I bought was a Mopho late last winter. A couple of days ago there was an FS1r at the cheapest I've seen in at least two yrs on Ebay..but as I look around my room at all the keyboards and guitars I already have that sit neglected..I sadly shook my head and quickly got off Ebay.

Well that is what is hopefully going to keep me at bay. I'm getting into a selling mode actually and want to trim the fat. Hopefully it will last.
