I have owned that album in so many formats so many times it's not even funny. I am sure I have spent more money replacing that album than I did for my first electric guitar...but I've only had one cdFunkybot's Evil Twin wrote:Or crank up the drive with the SVT Classic and 8x10 cab for some Keith Richards' Get Yer Ya Ya's Out type tones.zerocrossing wrote:While we're on the topic, use the SVX B-15R with a guitar cab to get really tough little guitar tones. It's really important to have proper setup when using amp simulators in the computer world. The manual goes into good detail on how to set up for the first time. Don't use line inputs either, when plugging into your soundcard, make sure you are using the hi-z/instrument input.
It takes some time for some to get used to how to do amp sims properly and how to have your inputs and outputs staged correctly. I find this to be the case with all of them.

I'm impressed. A very worthwhile upgrade and a welcome addition to the Amplitube family tree. I don't take it for granted that for the cost of a cheap amplifier you can get all of this tone.
The new sleeper feature for me was the ability to move microphones around. I was actually opposed to the idea as I thought the old interface was good enough but DAMN I love how this works! Very intuitive and much easier to get a sound I like.
I'm still a bit confused though. If you already have the old Amplitube plugins installed, are the ones that load up in AT3 remodeled? I mean, under the presets those are all using the remodeled gear, right? If I like the sounds of the old plugins I'll have to load up the old one's? And ALL Amplitube products benefit, even the new Fender?
The one thing I noticed was the AT Metal gear does have more bass response/a muddy tone to it. I don't know if that's a good thing and I may stick with the old Metal plugin for those tones.
It looks like the old 24-bit/96kHz tuner bug is still there?
Loading time is longer than the old AT plugs BUT the interface has a smoother feel when switching presets.
Orange amps...ooh. Lovely stuff!
If you think this plugin sounds like crap, you better check your recording setup. I usually don't go over -12 dB when recording, hovering around the -20dB area most of the time. This is "analog zero" from what I understand. Peaking to digital 0 is like going +20 dB on a mixer...meaning it'll sound like sh*t.
Guitar to $200 direct box to Mackie mixer XLR input to Delta1010 = a decent chain. If you're hooking your guitar up using a TS to 1/8" cable into your computer's built-in soundcard...then, yeah. Your tone may sound like garbage. Or for that matter Guitar --> Mixer line-in -->tape out of mixer board to 1/8" soundcard input. That'll sound lifeless too! Been there, done that. The DI box and decent preamp/mixer is KEY to direct guitar tracking. There's plenty of info in the manual that you should read on this topic.
Anyway, kudos to IK for another stellar product. You guys just made my life easier and added more value to my project studio. This software is worth way more than the asking price.

I think anyone who isn't impressed isn't using it right.
The one thing people who are "not impressed" with AmpliTube tend to have in common is they don't read or follow the directions regarding input level.
Or they just diss any plugin that isn't free, made with SynthEdit, or entered into the KvR developer challenge. There's just that entrenched mentality around here. It's like Bizarro Gearsluts. Hello, me go now.

AH! I thought I was the only one who thought this. I sparked up an old project that used XGEAR and a preset from Metal (with a little tweaking) and played with it for a minute and thought, "Now let's see how amazing this sounds with AmpliTube 3!"AudioGuy720 wrote: The one thing I noticed was the AT Metal gear does have more bass response/a muddy tone to it. ...and then I thought, "Crappier?" I've been going though all the included amps today (I'm only up to American Vintage B) and so far I hear improvements but not with the models in the Metal (RIP) amps. I think it's the cabs. They sound oddly bassy and indistinct to me to (there's another whole thread where I go into more detail) but I'm happy that someone else is validating my findings. To me it sounds clearly worse. Shame because other than that this update has been amazing.

or perhaps it is simply not to our taste. i have not stated that amplitube 3 is rubbish. i've stated that, in the context of the hype and other people's response that i myself am not 'overly impressed'. each to their own. personally i still prefer revalver III.redshift factor wrote:I think anyone who isn't impressed isn't using it right.

expressing a difference of opinion is not the same as 'dissing'. needing to dismiss or invalidate an opinion simply because it does not echo the prevailing view, however, is.

Or they still use that old crappy beginner guitar and expect it to sound good. Ive seen that over and over with hardware amps, people diss some amps using their crapguitars. What did they expect? A miracle?

Personally, I don't get the whole Revalver thing.kewlio wrote:personally i still prefer revalver III.
I've compared AmpliTube 2/Jimi Hendrix extensively to ReValver. I compared the amplifer sections of similar heads: Hendrix S100 to Revalver Bluesmaker, the Dual Rectifiers, JCM 900s, etc. This is just a "head to head" comparison, with cabs both bypassed and run through the same cab impulses. What I found, even with AmpliTube generation 2 models, was that they were cleaner, smoother, and far more dynamic.
The one thing Revalver users keep coming back to is the cabs. But these are just static impulses, and were downloaded for free from the internet! But if you still really prefer those cabs over AmpliTube 3's 3D mic placement, then go get them all and more at http://noisevault.com/nv/ and load them into SIR. It's also free.
