1 gig of RAM? :o

i have 512megs
Yes, but nothing is better than 64K :hihi: .

Post

I did some Synth1 banks as well - http://1-2-many.weebly.com/vsti-banks.html

Post

I don't like this synth. Sound is average, GUI is average.
IMHO today we have much better synth.

Such as?
Best regards from Johan Brodd.

You are absolutely right :D

You don't HAVE to like it because we do :hihi:

Does this mean we should see v1.09 around the middle of 2014? :hihi:

I actually had to give a double-take when I saw this on the side of the news column.. a Synth1 update. :band2:

FWIW, I agree with Teksonik and others: it's not only in the pure sound quality, it's also in how you get the sound you want with simplicity and intuitivity - the 100 bank support it's the best feature that could be added considering the huge quantity of great sounds crafted by users.

Overall, Synth1 has an incredibily well balanced set of features, how they sound and how they are made tweakable in the GUI.

I tweaked presets and got where I wanted to be in minutes, and the final sound was very different from the original preset. Lot of fun but also lot of processing tools.

If ever Synth1 has to be enhanced in sound quality, it should be a different product IMHO.

Unfortunately, I don't have time right now to go back and read all the pages in this topic, but I gather Toda is willing to further update Synth1?
I may not be the best person to give advice in this regard, as I've never been a fan of this synth (while I'm obviously grateful to Ichiro for making it available for free, of course, and I did use it occasionally). To my ears it sounds way too abrasive and thin, and it relies on the FX section much too heavily. I realize, however, that all this falls into the realm of personal taste, so I won't venture into it any further.

There are some aspects of it, though, that I do consider objective. One is the filters, that seem to pass from not-enough to too-much without anything in the middle.

Another objective flaw is the fact that most sonds you program only sound good on a couple of octaves, beyond which lots of unwanted frequencies creep in in various amounts making it unusable.

I haven't tried the new version, yet, so I don't know if he solved the problem of the patches not getting saved with the song that made for headaches and desperation of so many people who, like me, program sounds on the fly.

I still don't know what all the fuss about this vst is about, take the fx off and it sounds like a tin can, it gets lost in any mix unless you heavily eq it, and even then it stands out in an unpleasant way. Sure, it's extremely light on the cpu for what it does, but that's just about it. It's like Jackson's Thriller, three astoundingly great tracks, and the rest is totally fogettable crap, but it's sold 60 million copies. It's just one of those things I don't get, but I guess it all boils down to personal taste.

  It's not a shame. Who needs Synth1 with Logic and Pro-tools? Any prima-donna mac marketing sucker too cheap or too lame to find a free or dirt cheap P4 to run a dozen of the great old low-cpu vsts or freeware synths on, can mop their own tears with the dining-table-sized monitors they routinely brag about... To pay out the nose for, and boast of mac greatness, and then come crying that xyz freebie won't run on their Candy Apple BSD 0sEx just doesn't fly in the
thin impoverished air on my side of the tracks.

Back on topic, using a full-featured multi-fx setup with the new
8000-sounds-in-seconds-Synth1 sure isn't going to boost sales of commercial vsts
 8) That one featue alone is like finding a sonic treasure map the size of a tent :-o

it all boils down to personal taste.
Mac, to make real spaghetti sauce, you must mince enough garlic to make your girlfriend back away quickly, fry a mix 70% beef, and 30% chorizo, or a favourite veggie combo, (spaghetti squash with zucchini is great for this, and soaks up tons of flavours!) adding salt and black pepper (and a dash a cayenne if desired for zing)
at high heat, while boiling your seasonings in 2 cups of water, then adding that 'tea' of flavor to cool and finish off the meat without burning. Add 2 jars of Prego Traditional sauce from the market, simmer for 1 hour at low heat, cook the pasta
perfectly, and lock the doors and windows, lest passersby want an invite to the feast 8)

But your Mac is used for business and music, not 'perceived size enhancement' :hihi:
