Just can't get enough of this effect.

I may have inadvertently borrowed a few Opeth chord progressions, but trying to get their haunting eerie sound was intended. Nasty DLA used in conjuction on the vibes then sent to a shimmer doing dual reverse pitch shifting, with a pre delay of 3ms or so (voxengo sound delay), before Shimmer on the send. Wild Hades (Alu) new NRR1 amp on clean channel for guitar.

Yes, I am surprised the Shimmers only at max at eating 4% of my CPU, which I consider to be quite fair. :) Its when a plugin takes 20%+ that I get a little frustrated, hehe.

I first started chaining the plugins as a way of testing the CPU consumption - you get a more reliable estimate when you have several instances running. The sonic effects were a nice surprise.

I want to improve the Depths of Hell soundscape, make it more HELLish, like Diablo II music, so stay tuned.
(from another post)

I really like these sounds. I had actually found them when Googling ValhallaShimmer, before Architeuthis posted this in a different thread.

The Ohmicide feedback through Shimmer makes a nice sound. I have played around with FreqEcho feedback through Shimmer, to create sounds that are somewhere between Risset's endless glissandos and Penderecki.

Sean, thanks so much for Shimmer, it's a truly awesome plugin..I had my doubts before I purchased, just because I didn't think I'd use it much, but..Wow, this thing is great!

I just posted a track in the Music Cafe that makes heavy use of Shimmer to get that 'Schnauss' type wall of sound, especially on the pads, it works a treat! I maybe even overused it a little, but who cares..I'm loving the sound that I can generate with this :D

Anyway, track is here if you want to check it out

Without Shimmer I think I would have struggled to get the effect that I wanted on this. Thanks again!

I really like this track (I know I say this a lot in this thread, but I've liked a lot of what I have heard). If anything, the reverb seems a little understated from a lot of the Ulrich Schnauss I have heard, especially his in-studio performance I heard on KEXP, our local radio station of choice. Well done.

(BTW, anyone know what Schnauss uses for his bass sounds?)

I'm starting to think about what comes after ValhallaShimmer. If you want to chime in, set your browser for the heart of the sun. I mean, set your browser to

http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=4317234

And now I have early Pink Floyd stuck in my head. Which isn't a bad thing. Although I have an Ulrich Schnauss track from my prior post in my head as well. Which will win?

Pink Schnauss... no Ulrich Floyd will win.

Shimmer is The Tits, Sean....

By the way, will EOS come out as a 64 bit plug soon?

No idea. I haven't heard anything about this from the Audio Damage guys. I know that they are updating their plugins to 64 bit, but I don't know where Eos stands in the schedule.

Hi all:

I've updated ValhallaShimmer to version 1.0.2. What's new:

- The OSX VST and AU have improved preset handling
- The OSX bugs with saving/recalling the state of the plugin have been fixed
- The Windows VST now has presets

In addition, I've created a 64-bit Audio Unit and 64-bit Windows VST of ValhallaShimmer. The 64 bit AU works well in Logic 9, and the x64 VST has been tested in Cubase 5.5.2 and Reaper on Windows 7.

I've posted new demo versions of all of the above.

Set your browsers to

http://www.valhalladsp.com/shimmer.html

and check these out.

Thanks,

Sean Costello

I forgot to post the link to the Pro Tools presets in the mass email I sent out to people. For anyone who wants the "factory" presets, you can get them from

http://www.valhalladsp.com/shimmer/pres ... resets.zip

This is for Pro Tools only. The other plugins (AU/VST) have internal presets.
