I am very glad that there are going to not indifferent to the music and to the people!
Attila! Your program is very good and you always properly respond to what we are all interested in that RC is even better!
PS It's a pity that the possibility of exchanging phrases between users and create libraries and repository search phrases is scheduled for the end of the year!) And then we would now start creating phrases for each other!)))

Hi Attila,
Thanks for a great product. If there is any way to run it in "MIDI ONLY" mode (i.e. no audio at all), I think this would be very useful for those of us who want to run the standalone version and use the MIDI out to control instruments in our DAW. Currently this is not possible. The problem is that RC tries to acquire the ASIO device, and if the DAW has it locked, then RC won't even play (and vice versa).
So, for example, in the audio setup screen, when you select the audio device, instead of there being two options ("ASIO", "Windows MME"), there would be three ("ASIO", Windows MME", "No Device"), and if No Device is selected, the program does not try to acquire an audio device and just sends MIDI data.

Hi guitarmanchu,
this is a good question. To disable audio one has to hold down Alt when starting RapidComposer. However playback won't work without setting any audio interface. The internal sequencer would be able to emit MIDI notes but placing the notes into the sequencer queue requires the timing from the audio interface. So at the moment playback depends on the audio interface, which can be anything (even Windows MME) if you want MIDI output only. If you set Windows MME, only the timing is used from that interface, think of it as a clock generator.
Thanks,
Attila

the date is not set in stone. It can be implemented much sooner if there is demand for it, if I see that more and more users are willing to share their phrases, which would be amazing.
Thanks,
Attila

Hi,
a new beta is uploaded (v2.56b9) in which sending and receiving MIDI Start/Stop/Continue messages are implemented. I promised this to Dennis long time ago:

There are no other changes since the previous beta version.
I hope you'll find this useful.
Best,
Attila

Hi Atilla,
Is there any way for the idea tool to save state when loading a project? Reason I ask is that I've set up a relatively complex set of instruments in my DAW for each style of music I may be working with at the moment, and if I want a creative inspiration, the first thing I do is pull up the idea tool, but re-creating the tracks and assigning them to the correct MIDI channels, etc.. every time is a bit of a pain.
It would be incredibly useful and make RC part of my daily workflow if this could happen.
Thanks!

you can save idea tool presets if i understand your question correctly
just prepare your tracks and select the Save Preset and give it a name

You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

I am requesting what I hope is a small usability change (although I realize that calculating and then shifting a control to align to the proper screen coordinates can be very tricky to do correctly):
Use Case Scenario: After I have selected a preset for a Soundfont that has a very large number of presets (e.g. a General MIDI soundfont), I may want to move up or down just a few presets from the current preset.

Currently, however, immediately after a previous preset selection, when I click the "Preset:" drop down, RC always displays the drop down with the first preset at the top:
I would prefer that the drop down always automatically re-position itself to show the currently selected preset lined up with the dialog box instead:

Additionally, it would be useful if the selection highlight started from the selected item so that I can hit the up and down arrow keys to move the selection highlight up and down and hit the Enter key to change the selected preset:

The Home and End keys could also be enabled in the drop down to allow for the immediate placement of the drop down focus to the top or bottom of the list (respectively).

+1 @tonedef71
It would also be useful to have a scroll bar to grab and use rapidly ... preferably with the scroll wheel, instead of having to click the arrow at the bottom which moves very slowly through the presets.
I think Attila has already stated he intends to put some type of hierarchy structure so the presets can be organized in groups instead of having to scroll through all of them.

I posted this request as well in the main forum window and got some feedback from some users. I post it again in the request section just in case....
I notice that in the Variations menu there is a Mirror Horizontally option ( usually called retrograde ).
I am missing the other traditional way of music phrase variation, the vertical mirror, traditionally called "melody inversion". So as an example if I play a melody like C D E F the melody inversion (vertical mirror) could be 2 ways:
- chromatic inversion: C Bb Ab G (the exact intervalic twist of the melody around the C axis)
- diatonic inversion : C B A G ( the relative diatonic twist of the melody around the C axis that uses the notes from the diatonic scale)
I think it would be usefull to have these 2 options included.

Also add to that suggestion a variation for "Mirror Horizontally & Vertically" (usually called retrograde inversion) -- both scalar/diatonic and chromatic varieties for all of them (Horizontally; Vertically; Horizontally & Vertically).tsmiguel wrote:I posted this request as well in the main forum window and got some feedback from some users. P.S. Still hoping for similar destructive versions of these variations as operations in the Phrase Editor.
