We're still waiting for you to prove this assertion, LOL.
I don't have to "prove" anything to you, I'm just basing this on my own observations and experiences. The opinion is my own, and YMMV.
Ok then all that remains is to show where you said this outrageous claim was your opinion. If this was not really said and you can't really back up the claim, you have to say it was a silly, elitist thing to say. Remember "the best artists don't focus on stroking their own egos but rather on creating music that forms emotional bonds with those who listen to it." LOL
LOL indeed...I read your paragraph and visualized this:

That's your comeback?! LMFAO

Hilarious to see bold statements of fact put forward with brazen impudence turned into humble opinion at the slightest scrutiny without a single valid point offered to back up any of it except some rude comments to other posters and then it all fizzles out with some inane lala Youtube video.. :dog:

And it's not even on topic.. It's all just the gushing fan who has fallen in love with their DAW after a few weeks use we've seen so many times before and who has come to eulogize about it, dredging up an old dead thread and even promoting some commercial products in the process.

It's all wrong and it's very bad form.

Hmm well I don't really equate "real" music to live instruments and "fake" music to virtual instruments...I mean I suppose "real" audiophiles hate the sound of anything that isn't vinyl, but I like music that moves me emotionally, I could care less if someone practiced for two decades to figure out how to perform it, or if someone spent couple weeks figuring out how to make midi sound "passable" in a DAW to where it's enjoyable to the listener.

I do quite like "epic" sounding stuff like orchestral soundtracks. And I do enjoy going to the occasional symphony. Hell I was a "band nerd" for like six years, so I even enjoy playing "classical" type stuff, even though I haven't touched it since high school.

But what really inspires me are genre mashups...especially this concert that Jeff Mills did...youtube does not do it justice at all, you have to experience it in 5.1 surround...

Here's my favorite song from the concert:

Here's the full concert, if you're curious:

In Jeff Mills' case, I don't think that sticking to a tempo hurt that performance any...but I do understand how that can be undesirable...in FL you can link tempo automation to a controller and tempo shift stuff around to your liking, but it is true that the tempo is pre-defined...I don't see this as a problem for what I'm doing, but I can see why it would frustrate those who find tempo being defined up front as restrictive.

Perhaps video game music isn't taken that seriously in some circles, but I don't seem to mind the "digital" feel of many "epic" orchestral pieces made for video games...in fact some of the pieces have moved people enough to inspire orchestras to actually perform them live, even though they were originally completely digital.

What I'm actually playing around with at the moment is gershwin's "rhapsody in blue" which is yet another one of those kind of genre/orchestral crossover experiments. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it yet, but I'm trying to deconstruct how it was put together. It has a tempo-shifting envelope automation.

I'm not going to write up an essay on why FL studio is more powerful than Acid Pro, Reaper, Renoise, and several other DAWs I've tried. It wouldn't matter; you're just trolling, and that is why I linked that video.

LOL, eulogize, really?

This isn't the windows version of Logic we're talking about. FL 11 is actively being developed and has a large userbase.

Promoting commercial products? So I guess merely mentioning eastwest in a couple posts is equivalent to shilling for them, even though I don't own any of their products?

What's bad form is you acting like you care about my opinion, when really you're just looking to mock me to feed your superiority complex...which is what I consider textbook trolling.

...and there's the personal attack. Brilliant. You've done the full tour now. LOL.

Again not only bad form, but again wrong on all counts:

1. I have no interest in your opinion outside the topic

2. The one with the superiority complex is obviously one who thinks they can announce on KVR what's the superior DAW and do so without justification.

3. The troll here is you. FYI there are dictionaries you can use to look up its meaning before using a word, highly recommended. As you can see it's you in your opening post:

"A troll is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people, by posting inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a forum, chat room, or blog), either accidentally or with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion."

REAPER was one of the DAWs I demoed, and as far as I can tell if you can't do something in REAPER it probably doesn't need to be done (and can't be done anywhere else either). The routing alone steamrolls FL's architecture. Really the only thing FL has on REAPER is an easier-to-work-with piano roll and some (very cool) native plugins like Vocodex, Slicex, Patcher, and Sytrus. Also the pattern paradigm if you're into that sort of thing.

That said, if you can make great music in a DAW, who cares what other people think of it?

edit: I made some virtual popcorn, anybody want some? :P

Yep.

This was dug out of the dead by kati for absolutely no reason. Now, she is defending herself to the hilt with insults for no reason.

Sounds like a good description of yourself. I'm muting you so I can talk to people who aren't trolling.

I don't think you are going to have to worry about the mute much longer :hihi:

nah, I don't have to defend myself, I'm muting all those who seem intent on picking a fight with me.

Not sure what you mean, lol. I only mute people who I feel are intentionally trying to pick a fight with me...I don't have any reason to mute you though; you seem cool ;)
