Thanks your replies.
I think I am still going to pass on the upgrade until maschine at least catches up with BFD2/3 sequencer/editor
I will carry on sequencing drums in BFD and just use maschine as a sampler/controller

Ni are a strange bunch, they put out some game changing hardware and software but have some bizarre omissions from what i've read. I really want 2.0 for the multicore but they've changed quite a bit; the nav buttons have been removed which i use a lot with my laptop as i sit with maschine on my lap and the laptop to the side so i'd be reaching over all the time. It's a bit odd replying inversely as the quoted replies are backwards!

musikmachine wrote:Well y'all could get involved on the forums, at lot of this stuff is by feature request and they had OTR threads where you could ask about things you wanted. Some of Nis design decisions leave me scratching my head but they've implemented a ton of stuff that users have been asking for.
I haven't seen much around things like groove templates but round robin seems like a pretty standard thing and i wish they'd allow pad layering like Geist but i guess i'll have to use groups!
But i think most of maschine's updates have been user driven from about 1.5, the most requested stuff has been slowly added but things have been left out or changed in 2.0. I think it's a good upgrade if it's got what you want but yeah the forums are worth checking for stuff they changed in 2.0.

What I find weird & interesting is that the Maschine Studio looks more like a DAW controller for a non-DAW system and Ableton's Push looks like a non-DAW controller for a DAW!
Looks like they should be reversed:
The Studio has edit screens, transport controls, monitor/level controls etc.
And Push has a lot of beat-making buttons.
Dunno, maybe it's just me!

I'm officially at the confusion stage over this. I don't really want it to be THAT kind of daw. I'm not sure other than multiprocessor support there is anything that is going to make me happy.
I'm having a hard time following what is so great about 2.0 and then the things that they changed that I wouldn't like.
More research is necessary.......

My thoughts exactly, thats why I bought both Push and Maschine Studio. Maybe I can morph them together to create one Über MaschinePushOzWozEre wrote:What I find weird & interesting is that the Maschine Studio looks more like a DAW controller for a non-DAW system and Ableton's Push looks like a non-DAW controller for a DAW!

Maschine functions as a DAW controller in midi mode so the studio will probably be an uber DAW controller, i wonder how the screens work with other hosts...OzWozEre wrote:What I find weird & interesting is that the Maschine Studio looks more like a DAW controller for a non-DAW system and Ableton's Push looks like a non-DAW controller for a DAW!

It's got three things i wanted; multicore, drum synth and set loop range but i'm reading about some things that have been removed and i'm like ehhhh?hibidy wrote:I'm officially at the confusion stage over this. So i'm gonna wait for the reviews to come in, some of the stuff sounds pretty radical like removing pattern split etc.

I don't get why they removed the navigation stuff from the controller either but I never used it anyway. Since buying the 2.0 software I have not touched my mouse once during creation.musikmachine wrote:Ni are a strange bunch, they put out some game changing hardware and software but have some bizarre omissions from what i've read. Its still Maschine at its core. If you know Maschine you can jump in 2.0 and just learn how a few things were changed. Nothing overly major. For me multicore was a big deal so it could handle my more demanding synths.hibidy wrote:I'm officially at the confusion stage over this. I don't really want it to be THAT kind of daw. A demo would have been nice to really get a feel for it.KevWestBeats wrote:I don't get why they removed the navigation stuff from the controller either but I never used it anyway. So just in the short period of time I see that apparently they "improved" some things vs just flat out removing them.
I'll need the groove 3 viddy........come on groove three!!!!!!

FWIW, MacProVideo has a series for v2. I haven't watched them yet, though (and Groove3's videos are usually FAR better IMO).hibidy wrote:So just in the short period of time I see that apparently they "improved" some things vs just flat out removing them.
