True, there's that. Doing a DBA is 100% free in the US, as well (though it doesn't insulate you from liability if someone gets lawsuit-happy). IMHO, at least in the US, dropping about $50 USD to register as an LLC is a wise choice in this day and age.qvprod wrote: You don't have to be an LLC. Simply depends on the laws of your country. I'm a simple DBA (in the US) without any filing and I was granted access. Just need a tax number.

LLC is actually $200 for the state fee in New York at least. Then there are companies like Legal Zoom that will file it for you for a $50 fee in addition to the state fee. Maybe it's different in other states?EnochLight wrote:True, there's that. Doing a DBA is 100% free in the US, as well (though it doesn't insulate you from liability if someone gets lawsuit-happy). For me personally, at this point I have nothing to worry about being sued over. But I agree if you're serious about really building a business then registering an LLC is best.

Spot on. About bloody time Propellerhead added some more up to date instruments - for us old-timers, Reason was always about the rack.jacqueslacouth wrote:![]()
OK, I'm stumped here...all I recall in recent years was the bleating about the age of the synths included in Reason and the lack of progress in this area. So, now they include a whole lot of new content and the bleating starts about not changing the program...
Honestly, can the Props EVER win here?
This is the Reason update I’ve been waiting for. Sure, curved automation would be nice but ... really? These instruments will make a FAR bigger impact on what is possible in a Reason. Bring it on!

The problem is that the Props are simply too slow/lazy in programming...jacqueslacouth wrote:![]()

While they implement 4-5 new things in a major update, other companies like Presonus or Cockos deliver hundreds of improvements in minor updates...
If I count together all improvements/changes Reason got in all updates since release, I am pretty sure it´s less than i.e. Reaper got in the 5.0 release, Studio One in the 3.0 or FLS in the 12.0...
Even if quantity shouldn´t win over quality it´s just too little what they deliver... I don´t know, what they are doing all the time... 15-20 employees for 5-6 features in 3 years... that´s a working pace like a snail...

Funnily enough, I was looking at Reaper again the other day (for the first time in ages) and couldn’t really tell that anything much had changed since version 2, when I last looked. Perhaps lots under the hood, and geeky options hidden in menus someplace… but nothing that interested me.
Different strokes for different folks, etc, and personally I would rather have a stable software than something where I need to spend time downloading bug fixes twice a week.
As for Reason’s rate of development, elsewhere I’ve seen people moaning that there’s ANOTHER update already! Again, one of those things where Propellerhead seem unable to please everyone!
But personally I’ve always found that a new Rack device isn’t an Addition to the software - more a Multiplication of it. YMMV

Check the change log and there are tons, and I mean TONS, of new features and fixes. There are a lot of changes just between each minor release.headquest wrote:Funnily enough, I was looking at Reaper again the other day (for the first time in ages) and couldn’t really tell that anything much had changed since version 2, when I last looked. On the otherside, Reaper is my least used DAW, not counting Maschine, which I didn't buy to use it as a DAW. Ok, I might use Renoise less than Reaper too.
What I wanted to say is that I find Reaper so boring to use, and I'm not a friend of the workflow either.

I have to say that while watching this Europa video, it sounds super good. Really fat and good sound. Still, thinking there should be more workflows in this update. But good work with the synth.

I just watched the stereo Youtube version:keel wrote:I have to say that while watching this Europa video, it sounds super good. Really fat and good sound. Still, thinking there should be more workflows in this update. But good work with the synth.
And yeah... I have to confess that I actually changed my mind about upgrading after watching that video. When Reason 10 was announced I was like "meh, I don't need version 10", however the product manager Mathias also managed to soften my attitude here. Obviously Europa is a very capable synth.
OK, so PH is now beefing up the native sound design resources that's included in Reason by default, that's cool. The cost of $129 is like what... the cost of yet another rack extension or vst plugin? A no brainer, really. Also the version 10 comes not too far away from version 9.5, I remember back in the days when we had to wait a much longer time for Reason updates.
I also like the honest approach from these guys, doing a humble down-to-earth live stream and taking questions every now and then for 90 minutes, just demonstrating for everyone that PH officials actually are proud of their own product and aren't afraid of showing it.
Mathias has to be the best product manager ever for PH, he seems to be very down to earth and manages to take criticism the right way.
I'm just hoping that now when Reason delivers "more everything", at least in regard to sounds, that Mathias and all PH's C++ coders will now turn their focus to deliver even more for the Reason core and workflow features.

Anyway, about hockey, I know it's really big in Finland, not as big in Sweden anymore though, where football (real football, not the stupid version they play in the US) is the most popular sport in Sweden.
I remember the 1-6 debacle a couple of years ago though, guess if I heard about that a few times from my Finnish friends
