* Diva
* Omnisphere
* Pigments of any version
* Every other synth by Arturia
* Dune
* The Legend
* Obsession
* Oddity 3 (but Axxess is amazing!)
* Vital

Needless to say I'll not bother trying the new Hans Zimmer + Synapse Audio synth, especially since it's modular-ish. Same with the new Pigments.
So, which synths do you love?
Software?
- Twin3
- UAD Opal
- Hive 2
- Model 84

For starters. Twin3 has become my go to for analog sounds. I could easily just use Twin3 and Hive 2. Tempting, actually, to get rid of more soft synths.

I promise this is a legitimate, non-hostile question, though it will sound like a joke or a jibe or a taunt. It is not. I am seriously curious:

...Why are you on KVR?

This would make a wonderful and lovely non-toxic thread for people to have a serious discussion.

I like to stay on top of what’s going on and is out there. Just because I’ve spent enough time and money to reach a point where I know what I like (including when it comes to synths coming out) doesn’t somehow negate my ability to enjoy or participate.

I don’t enjoy Synapse Audio products enough to keep them, and I don’t enjoy Pigments at all or, really, any Arturia software to keep them (love my Keystep!). I’ve had them all at one point.

But, why IS kvr?

1. A great place for parasocial relationships with music as a common denominator?
2. A great marketplace of plugins and ideas?
3. A great place to troll?

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I've pretty much reached a stasis point with software and hardware, so I relax here. I don't patriciate in any new threads on that other slutty music hardware site and only rarely pop up in new threads here. I'm actually slowly weaning myself of the Internet, land of 1GB-sized web pages that are desperately trying to sell me garbage through the use of AI generated drivel. Someday, it may be lights out on the JavaScript and any site that fails to load, oh well...
I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better? :(

MassiveX has been a big disappointment. Always hoping it gets some updates that improve it but no such luck.
Meanwhile FM8 it's hard to get it over %3 CPU no matter what you do to it or even wild morphing.

Phase Plant and almost all Softube stuff as well.. just runs like crap no matter how much you update your comp. If I can't use 6 or 7 without stutters that's an issue.

Sometimes just one patch will bring your system to over %100 - no thank you for the sluggishness. Life is too short..

Also, I love the idea and sound of Cypher but they never fixed some extremely egregious bugs that they promised to - even with millions of dollars of investment.. Strobe however is probably one of the most slept on VST's ever.

If you haven't already, try DSP56300, Sines, and Opal. They don't sound the same as Massive X but they all have that rich, hifi character that Massive X has.

2007 plugin made for 2007 computers.

The only Softube synths I use are the Models. Personally, I think they overload the mix if I use more than 2 instances. Great synths, use sparingly.

Okay! Fair enough. There's certainly no better place that I've found to stay on top of what's being worked on.

I prrrrrrrromise I was genuinely curious, thanks for answering.

No problem. I took you at your word!

Klanghelm comps and saturation, nice, but have better options.
Diva, nice, but... don't really like it.
Pigments, the sound is somehow not inspiring for me, but good synth.
Soothe, demoed it twice, but couldn't find any use to justify a purchase
Fabfilter Pro Q, use it less than I thought I would, only dynamic eq sometimes, ReaEq is a better choice for me (surgical eq)
Liquid sonics reverbs, demoed several times inspired by the hype, they sound worse than most reverbs I already have, do not dig them
Softube Amp Room, terrible
