Actually, I was kinda surprised to see that so many ppl voted against Fruity. I have only tried the demo version myself, and it really wasn't my cup of tea, but to go as far as to say it's the worst..

Well, what do u know?

I guess it just goes to show there's more to a "worst" host than technical issues. I'd never buy software from a company that insulted its user base, and I'd be leery about buying from a company that never listened to user requests for additional features. If you're trying to do Real Work with any of these things, support is a *key* issue and the best program with little or no support will never become a great success.

Just my rant on the topic. :P

K-V-R is not Pc centric, the world is.

Audio production on computers is not PC centric in general, it's pretty evenly split in the US at least, between the two, but if you go from forum to forum, depending on the intended user base for that forum, you will get either a PC or mac bias. KVR tends to lean towards PC, not a good or bad thing IMO, just a thing.

Seems like an honest vote so far tho, well spread.
Maybe it's not the host that people hate but it's evangelic supporters? :D

Would your opinion that it's an honest vote be the same if Orion was losing? :D (notice the smilies)

Seriously though no one can tell me FL Studio and Orion are the # 1 and # 2 WORST hosts ever. One could argue they aren't the BEST but certainly not the WORST.

I'd be interested in people's opinions why. Or perhaps it is just spite between the Orionauts and Fruity Mafia. :D
Yeah lets hear why? Besides whining that they don't listen to their users
Yeah let's hear why what???? Don't understand your question. :?:

Not meaning any offense by that, but on the mac side, only SX runs VST, and AU is only beginning to get the kind of foothold DX and VST have on the windows side. Since this forum is mainly about plug formats that translate between apps, how many MAS Digital Performer people do you think are here? or Pro Tools users?
The over all vibe of the place is that of composer, rather than engineers, so that crowd is under represented. Then there's the fact that mac sites like OSXAudio cater to the Apple crowd, so the mac side is reduced by even more than actual market share.

You get the point.

Anyway I voted other, and Pro Tools has my vote, for not making a reasonable mid range package, and writing piss poor drivers for their consumer gear.
And if FLS were ever made for the Mac, the voting differences would show. :)

Actually you wouldn't believe how often the cry for a "Fruity Loops style sequencer for the mac" is heard at mac centric forums! Just to give props to FL! :)

By design, FLS is easy to learn. From my experiences, I never read the manual for the first 2 years of having this soft studio (this was back as FruityLoops 3). I never needed to run to customer serive or support forums for anything because all I really had to do was jump in and feel my way around this great software. 8)

To be fair, FLS started out as one of the first software drum machine programming. Within 5+ years, it would change to one of the best known soft studio in the world, even changing Reason for the #1 spot on the annual Computer Music voter choice awards. :D

Beside poor customer service (something I don't personally use anyway), the real problem that some people have with FLS can be trace to people negative feelings with step-sequencing. :?

True, you can find real sequencing power with DP, Cubase, Logic, or Sonar. :)

But.....to be able to use your MIDI keyboard controller or mouse to program all your drum, percussion, & instruments parts EXACTLY the way you think about it, FLS is much more fun. And it get better after I export all wav files to Live or Audition to finish it off. :D

And if you think FLS is only good for loop and pattern recording, think again! Have anyone else try live recording features inside FLS? 8)

Along with Reason, Project5, & Orion, FLS is a soft studio intended to distance themselves from the sloppy MIDI programming that still happen with regular soft sequencers (Cubase, Logic, Sonar, Digital Proformer, Pro-Tools) sometimes. 8)

I hope I didn't step on too many toes.

Didn't they used to have a Mac software that could "wrap" around a PC software like FLS and make it work on a Mac :?: 8)

Well they do work a little better than the PC port of OSX that took hours to load, but......

Anyway, FL is nice, but there are plenty of ways to do step sequencing on a mac, people just want what they are used to you know?

i know a lot of people who love to insult the targeted company and a lot of users who don't feel insulted by the very same company.

but what do they know, they are just stupid fanboys...

did they notice that FLS has a very powerful piano-roll? and that each pattern can have its own length now?

seven votes for Podium????? :o

that is incomprehensible to me... but hey, ya can't please everyone. it just seems bizare that it would be WORST, on anyones list at all.
Hmmmmm.
on the other hand, i never liked logic, and that is one of the best loved and widely used platforms in the world, so maybe the word incomprehensible is a little strong. Surprising, yes, to no small degree. But, I suppose I can understand, at least sort of. :) :P
