T-RackS 6 now available

Yeah, I'm back to: "all my TR5 plugins still work great, I don't need resizing or external sidechain, so there's really no point in me spending money to upgrade to TR6. The new plugins don't interest me at all."

I imagine quite a few folks feel the same way.

All that said, in the last two years or so, IK released my all-time favorite plugin in ToneX. If I include making my own captures, nothing gets more used than that. So it's not like I hate the company or anything. I've produced a TON of free content for them via tone.net.

Thanks, that what I thought, but someone was seeing paid TR5 plugins in TR6 Intro, which is why I asked. Others subsequently came out to say, 'not for me', so it was unclear if there was a policy change or someone just got lucky with a weird bug.

I was waiting it out to see how the TR6 upgrade sage plays out. turns out the Custom Shop model is effectively dead. I'll wait on the next Total Studio MAX deal to upgrade everything at once.

Well I am loving my TR6 plugins. I have had nothing but good experiences of IK so that is that, I know others haven't and I am not being a **** to them. I feel the value I have had has been exceptional. That said, I have only ever had T-Racks and MixBox so that may be the reason. Not had any of these install issues either but I use PlugInfo which lets me delete stacks of plugins in seconds that I don't want/need. PlugInfo is highly recommended.

If IK adds some killer new modules to T-Racks 6, maybe I'll upgrade someday. Or maybe MacOS will stop working with TR5. But there just needs to be a good value proposition in it for me, and we definitely ain't there yet. I felt the same way about the latest Arturia FX collection update.

If the current TR5 versions work, which they do for me, and I'm good with the screen sizes, which I am, and I don't need external side chain and the comps, which I don't, and I don't have GAS for any of the new modules, which I don't, there's really no good reason to part with $99. I'd be paying for a higher version number only. Or it would effectively be similar to a WUP for my particular case (because I'd just be paying to stay current and not use the new stuff).

My advice to IK would be: you still have more to do to TR6 to get me to pay to update. Best way to do that for me would be MK II versions of the older plugins or some cool new modules. But that's just me, and whoever else is in a similar boat. Other people may love the upgrade and it makes sense for them to part with some cash for it. All good there.

Noted. Must be a weird bug on one of my macs which shows all TR5 plugins as TR6 owned after installing Intro.

Oh don't get me wrong, I'm not denying IK plugins are great. I use them every day, and I have upgraded to both T-Racks 4 and 5 the moment they came out. I still don't have a lot of models from T-Racks 5 days (the Distressor, the reverbs, the Chicarelli strip, TASCAM tape machines, etc.), so I will definitely upgrade to T-Racks 6 MAX at some point, and hopefully by that time even more modules will come out.

it's just that for me right now, upgrade is 99, whereas an upgrade to Total Studio (which will inevitably come) will be like 149, for which I will get full T-Racks plus loads of other IK stuff I don't currently have (Syntronik 2, MODO Drums, MODO Bass 2, B3, etc.). so, clearly, Total Studio would be a better value, and I'm willing to wait for a while to get it.

Beware anyone who takes this at face value : IK support are now telling me that if I want to use plugins I purchased before acquiring T-Racks 6, that dont come with T-Racks 6, then I cannot use them in T-Racks 6 unless I purchase T-Racks 6 MAX.

Its now been about a month since I PM'd you my ticket number. I also PM'd you about a fortnight after I did that, (ie now two weeks ago), asking how long I might expect to wait.
You havent responded to my second PM, and Ive heard nothing from IK support in the 6 weeks since they responded to my 5+ months old ticket telling me something you're saying isnt true.

Nothing has been 'taken care of.'
