Here’s a link to a screen recording of the knob behavior of ohmicide and ohmboyz side by side. The screen recorder adds a black circle for the mouse position, so you can see that the mouse is moving the same distance for each plugin, at normal knob turning speed.

I would call that unusable, but judge for yourself.

There's a new update out. V 1.01
UI is way smoother. There's window scaling, better overall contrast and some controls like feedback have visual er...feedback to tell you whether they are active or not.

Yeah the weird jumpiness is gone and it's super smooth. The bigger window option is also a winner makes things much easier to select.hey212 wrote: Fri Jul 18, 2025 11:27 pm Hell yes, works perfectly now, seems like velocity was completely removed. Cheers Red Force.
I'd still love to see a sidechain and midi option for triggering the Adsr and while we're at it the ability to control the macro levels with other modulators would be cool.

I'm just psyched I can finally use the damn thing. Messing with it now, some great algos, and the feedback section is a bit of a superpower. Thanks for the heads up about the update btw.

Anyone produced anything musical with this thing, yet?
All the demos I have seen/heard are just uggly booring drum hits with different distortions/filters.
(And don’t suggest DIY - why to spend time reading Forums if you should try everything yourself, anyway.)

Well, I wanted it for distorted beats and bass. But it can do musical stuff if your conservative with it.Harry_HH wrote: Sat Jul 19, 2025 1:23 pm Anyone produced anything musical with this thing, yet?

Hate to say it... But try the demo. It's the only real way you'll see what this beast can do.

Before I bother support, am I missing a trivially easy way to change/update your email at Ohmforce? Still making my mind up about the upgrade, but I've never really found a substitute for the original (and am on M-architecture mac thesedays).

1.0.1 is still not working on my machine. The "algorithm selection" bug is no longer there, but the gui still hangs the whole Ableton. Now it's worse in the VST2 version, VST3 got a little better, but still not usable for me.
(It's smooth as butter in Reaper on the same machine, though. Please guys look at it. It has to be some Ableton incompatibility thing.
)
I love the OG Ohmicide. I want to love the new one as well.
Edit 1:
...out of couriosity I did try few more things:
1) Metaplugin wrapper did not help. The problem was the same in Ableton.
2) VST32 version is giving me wrong memory access error (the idea was to run the plugin bridged, if it helped with GUI ... this is where I envy Bitwig people, tbh) both in Meta Plugin and in SAVIhost.
3) I did install clean Ableton installation on a VM sandbox, did install demo of Ohmicide(S) there as well and the problem was the same.
Edit 2:
KushView's Eelement didn't help as well. That one is even more interesting, because it has a standalone version. In the standalone version Ohmicide(S) works perfectly. When I load Element in Ableton and Ohmicide(S) inside Element, once the GUI opens, it still halts the whole Ableton.
Edit 3:
HA!!!! Using jBridge to sandbox 64bit VST in 64bit Ableton did help! Now the GUI is smooth. Not an ideal solution, but at least a workaround until you guys find out what's happening.

Edit 4: When jBridged, the plugin has problems when audio input drops silent. The GUI is smooth, but the audio can eat way more CPU in certain occasions.

Try the "performance mode" option in jBridge's options. If you have the time, let me know if it makes things better ( can also make things worse, depending of the multi thread implementation of the host ). Thanks.FarleyCZ wrote: Wed Jul 23, 2025 9:49 am (...)

Do I need a restart after turning on the performance mode? Im pretty sure I tried it without restart and it did not help in this particular case.

I would re-start the host, just in case.FarleyCZ wrote: Fri Jul 25, 2025 2:17 pmOh wow, thanks for chiming in!umd wrote: Fri Jul 25, 2025 2:04 pmTry the "performance mode" option in jBridge's options. (Dear Ableton, hire this guy to write you a plugin sandbox layer, pretty please.)

Has anyone who bought this use it in Studio One? If so, how does it perform? I know the old one crashes S1 for me when I tweak certain settings.
Just curious. I could demo it, yes; thank you in advance for those suggestions. All the same Im Interested to hear exp. fr. S1 users, should there be any.
The ohminfinity I have and only one (not most recent) version works properly. I tend to just use the old ohmboyz, so I'd rather not have a repeat scenario w/ the Ohmicides.

I was going to demo this, but the Windows installer is an unsigned executable. I don't think I've seen an installer for a commercial product without a code signature in a long time. I've been doing code signing even on my inconsequential projects for a decade.
Not that I'm particularly worried about it actually doing any harm. It's just... I dunno. Hmm.
