Happy New Year All.
Don't normally do anything on New Year's Eve, but this year we got home from my brothers house at 4am. Think I'll be avoiding capital letters for today.
Greg.

You did nothing wrong. Squids has mentioned this several times. It's some kind of problem with the email response. But if you are concerned, write allen at esoundz dot com.dimitar wrote:yeah, same for me.Photo_G wrote:Hm. That's absolutely fine - I appreciate the explanation and totally understand. It was more the comment about not expecting the demand that wound me up. Well, that and the half bottle of scotch, two pints of Guinness and several glasses of wine. I should have made my point more politely but to be honest I'm kind of proud that I was able to type anything at all.Squids wrote: I understand your disappointment and we're sorry about the delay...etc

I'm impressed as well. Frankly, there would have to be disappointment because of the delay. So even that was understandable.dmacintyre wrote:That's absolutely fine - I appreciate the explanation and totally understand. It was more the comment about not expecting the demand that wound me up. And another "frankly"... when we start downloading and installing, there will probably be another round of disappointment. People will have the usual technology related problems, and will not know how to handle them. That's where we all need to come together and help each other.

If you want to wait a couple weeks and pick it up at NAMM on the HD or disc option that'd be okay. It'd be fun to meet you anyway. But you don't have to wait that long. We haven't been based in LA for over 10 years now. Hard to believe. I moved the company to Miami just before 2000.michael2 wrote:would totally be into the DVD (my connection is pathetic - took me an hour to download Kontact Player). If the HD was the right price and could be used to permanently store, I would be into that as well.
Question: I live in LA, is there any way that I could just pick it up?
Also, if any of you are going to be at NAMM please stop by the Sonic Reality booth (right next to Steinberg and PreSonus in HALL A) and introduce yourself. Make sure you tell me your KVR nick.

It's probably still fine but go ahead and check with Allen allen (at) esoundz (dot) com. He'll make sure you're all set either way if you want to be sure.Photo_G wrote:Hm. I didn't get a blank email confirmation, nor a 'new' entry in my eSoundz account...buy it shows a charge in my PayPal account.

Also, for anyone who joined but wants to make sure they don't miss it because they didn't get a confirmation DO NOT WORRY. Allen will make sure you can get it. Some people's CC have been declined - support contacts you. Very few regular CC or Paypal orders don't go through though. But Allen will reassure you and/or make sure you get it. You won't miss out.

Good to see civility and even empathy in 2010!dmacintyre wrote:That's absolutely fine - I appreciate the explanation and totally understand. I've known Sonic Reality and Dave (AKA Squids) through KVR since 2002 and I've been in a number of his group buys. But it seems Dave's end of the year group buys are kinda reminiscent of the drunken dad who opens up his wallet filled with money at Christmas and starts giving the kids whatever is in there. I'm willing to bet that the guys running the website are like -- "What did he just add now???? Come on, Dave!!!" (FTR, my profession is running interactive marketing, which includes managing websites, so I am actually being serious about that comment.) From my perspective, it's no big deal to wait a few days or even a week to get the goods from one of Dave's crazy GBs -- and especially this one. Yes, the anticipation for using this stuff makes it difficult to wait, but I think we should cut Dave/SR some slack (after all, there are humans behind this company). I mean, the deal was already pretty ridiculous with a bunch of DM and OWD kits -- consider that SR has to pay NI for the player (for people who take that option) and ToonTrack for their software (for people who take that option) and that doesn't even consider the drums or bandwidth for this monster. Something tells me that Dave didn't exactly go over this deal with a cost accountant before he put it together!
Anyways, happy New Year everyone!

Haha. I hear ya. Yeah, there were all sorts of things preventing it from happening and it was a "take your pick" kind of situation. Those that know us as a company know that we're very personal about things and don't get all corporate and distant about stuff. If we mess up I come right out and just say it instead of making people wonder. I fully admit that having the deadline on the 30th was one of the more stupid ideas I've ever had. Also, we may have gotten carried away with the extras a bit but... all for racking up some GOOD WILL with current and new customers of esoundz... and to try to break records in the GB which this one did!dmacintyre wrote:That's absolutely fine - I appreciate the explanation and totally understand. I think that is what frustrates me the most as owner of the company. Here I am with a goal of building a base of Infinite Player/Sonic Reality lovers and just when things are looking good what do I hear from people in my company? "Dave we have a problem with this, that, this, that... Sorry I gotta go etc HERE you deal with it!"). Basically a nightmare. So I spend most of my New Years solving things so it could happen (probably today - so far its looking good but I will know more in 3 hours from now). Anyway, I felt like Luke Skywalker in Empire Strikes Back (forgive the nerdy reference) when he thinks he's got the whole Jedi thing down and then confronts "Pops" who throws refrigerators at him. WOOPS. Wasn't counting on dodging a REFRIGERATOR! TOASTER! MICROWAVE! DROID DOG! (woof!) TOMATO!
Anyway, today is a new day and I don't give up. We're determined still to get phase 1 off to you as quickly as possible so you can get started with it. Then handle some Q&A which I am sure there will be once people get it. When the dust settles we'll be on to the the next phase and the next phase. Anyone who has trouble downloading can explore the custom disc options we're going to make for this which cost a little more but are less hassle. I'll explain more about that very soon.
Thanks for understanding. I FULLY realize that there are going to be people in various states right now. We can't please everyone but... those that know us know that we really try to anyway. That's the vulnerability of being on line as a company and talking to everyone. I see the hating threads on larger companies in here and think "Do they READ what people are saying about them?" It's rough. I suppose at a certain point there's just no stopping it and you have to turn away. But these group buys are kind of intimate, modern and quite different than the norm. We'll flat out CONFIRM your criticism. But like the waiter who forgets your water... in our restaurant the chef comes out and gives you a free desert. When that happens usually people like that restaurant even more. We all know no one is perfect. It's how one compensates for that which makes the difference. That's my philosophy about it. One can only do one's best and there are always lots of room for improvement. I've got a few New Years resolutions myself... one of them is under promise and over deliver! We'll see. Let's talk this time next year everybody and see if I was able to do that!
