Pretty easy to give a lesson about morals, how bad it is to succumb to the great ‘Satan’ and such when you’re comfortably seated in your office chair at work or home… But I can say that in a business context, I’m sure 99% of all you would make the exact same move ($.$$$.$$$) Camel did, if you were in their pants. You really think you would be smarter?

Just imagine, a few seconds, the old EXS24 purely replaced by Alchemy 2 with the power of Redmatica's Autosampler, SampleManager and KeyMap Pro while keeping Alchemy 1's presets compatible ?
The elegant way this whole story was handled was by itself a signature, particularly if you already had the Redmatica's softwares. I'm just surprised that the people at Camel Audio has accepted to adopt such a behaviour. Andrea, at least, sent a little word to everyone...

Smarter, probably no but more thankful or, at least, more polite, yes, without any doubt...Neon Breath wrote:You really think you would be smarter?

You're all talking as though you know the terms of the agreement.Spip wrote:Smarter, probably no but thankful or, at least, polite, yes, without any doubt...Neon Breath wrote:You really think you would be smarter?
If indeed there is any actual agreement.

I think it's to entice PC users to purchase hardware, which is why Apple has been giving free updates for OSX. The software is a small portion.trimph1 wrote:Logic will cost more with Alchemy in it.
A win for Apple!!!
For the rest of us...we can worry about who Apple will buy next.

So are we taking the tweet as gospel ? Are we sure he's not just talking sh*t ? Source ?
If it's true then good for Ben and Co. I hope they all got a nice chunk of money. I would do the same thing I'm sure. Good luck to all.
Time to move on............

No, absolutely not but I don't think we should discredit Ben's intentions until we know the full story.Spip wrote:You're absolutely right but do you find nice the way all of this happened ?Mushy Mushy wrote:You're all talking as though you know the terms of the agreement.Spip wrote:Smarter, probably no but thankful or, at least, polite, yes, without any doubt...Neon Breath wrote:You really think you would be smarter?

If apple bough camel audio... It would be sad... For all windows users.
I wonder why apple would invest this much money in music software technology. Is Alchemy 2 a gamechanger?

When did I say desktop? Even though the Mac pro qualifies as a desktop I was actually thinking of their laptop line. what do you consider hardware?

How could it be a gamechanger? Maybe that's what we should be speculating about instead.kiezum wrote:If apple bough camel audio... It would be sad... For all windows users.

Yes, but at the same time not really. It's a prosumer workstation designed for video-editing.masterhiggins wrote: When did I say desktop? Even though the Mac pro qualifies as a desktop I was actually thinking of their laptop line. what do you consider hardware?

If it does turn out to be the fruity co, I have to admit that it'll give me some measure of selfish satisfaction to see all the frustrated and angry PC-only users experience the same feelings of helplessness and frustration that I experienced when they dumped Logic PC-users on their acquisition of Emagic a decade ago. But IMO that was worse, because that was an entire way of working that got flushed; in this case it's just one softsynth, although a really good one.
As for $$ and CA, who can blame them. We are talking about the sale of software here, not political or economic manipulations that can negatively impact the life of millions, illegal transactions, environmentally unsound practices, etc... Everyone has family and needs of every kind, and you can't blame anyone for making a choice to their benefit if it doesn't hurt anyone else. Hopefully they can turn around and do some good with their riches in this sorry world we live in. Something you'd figure a company with some of the deepest pockets on the planet would be in the habit of doing...
So: who's up to making an AU to PC-VST converter?...
