Damn, late for that party too - had I known Vintage Legends was going to be on sale, would have grabbed this. Considering the Vintage Legends sale, that would have been like getting Falcon free.Luftrum wrote:I am late to the party I see, but the Falcon seems like a must have for 2016 - shame I missed the discount.

looking at Falcon, it ought to be able with very few waveform samples, to recreate most of the vintage synths, and without using tens of gigabytes of samples. just about none of the actual vintage digital synths used more than a few megabytes of samples.
I am turned off by sample heavy stuff because I live in the woods with only a cellular connection, so I don't want to be purchasing huge downloads. So, with the robustness of the Falcon synthesizer engine in mind, I think the disk streaming should be kept to a minimum with creating new soundware products and presets. In my opinion, 40 GB synth sample kits are the fastest way to sound too much like the next guy.
Of course, Falcon can be thought of as a sample player, so I'm not talking smack against those who want to use Falcon as a sample player or anything. It would be cool though to hear some Serum and Sylenth killing presets and soundsets using primarily synthesis.

I'm afraid i don't understand what you meanCinebient wrote:Some requests![]()
I would like to set the amount of a modulation to fixed parameters. F.e. from a min 10% to a max of 80%. It´s a bit too much of clicking and switching for me to get exact values when i try to get the amount of LFO´s and their range right. Especially if an LFO modulates and LFO which modulates an LFO etc.
2 solutionsCinebient wrote: Then i still would like to have a fast and easy way to add f.e. 8 different samples (or more) in one keygroup and could blend between them via modulation (polyphonic). So that i hit a key which starts with a piano, morphs into a cello, into a sustained string, etc etc and ends with a sustained bellish sound f.e.
It´s way to complicated to get such things done at the moment with many samples.
It´s possible for sure but it´s not fast and easy for me.
I can´t get fast usable results when try to modulate the volume or filter etc. for 8 (or more) different keygroups to do such things withz the right timing. Also the cpu usage is still too high to get really complex.
So a vector synthesis modul (with more than 4 sources and sample import) would be a huge addition for me and would solve this issue. Please think about it at least....
1.A lua script could do this if you put one sample per layer as the script could count the number of layer and compute the right volume for each voice of each layer. A good homework to learn the script basics.
2. use the mapper on each volume connection with the lua function to do a N samples xfade (right click in mapper editor). We have already made functions but only up to 3 layer.

Well this is already what falcon factory soundbank is aboutoverhishead wrote:looking at Falcon, it ought to be able with very few waveform samples, to recreate most of the vintage synths, and without using tens of gigabytes of samples. just about none of the actual vintage digital synths used more than a few megabytes of samples.

I think UVI have already moved in the right direction if you look at CS-M and Synthox expansions. They're more like a software instrument which synthesises a limited set of raw samples.overhishead wrote:It would be cool though to hear some Serum and Sylenth killing presets and soundsets using primarily synthesis.
That said, I would certainly like to see UVI developing non-sample based soundsets for Falcon to extend the factory set.

Thank´s... i will try if that works for me!
The first part..... sorry it´s maybe my poor english. What i mean is i want f.e. set a modulator for the volume of an OSC. But i would like to have an option where i could set fixed min. and max. points direct on the knob, so that a LFO or whatever i choose to modulate that will always stay in this range.
I know i could do this with drawing a MSEG or using the depth control and fideling with the gain knob itself. But again it a lot of clicking and turning knobs to get exact values.
Maybe there is already a way to do?
Sorry again to bother you!

But that already works in the current version, set a base level, add modulator and set a value to add to the base level, this can be a unipolar LFO/stepper/Macro whatever.Cinebient wrote:

Falcon seems great from this side of the door, and UVI has really gotten my attention with this product. Pardon my simplistic view on the matter, but it reminds me a bit of say, Reaktor Elements and Kontakt rolled into one. Is there a framework for 3rd party hybrid instrument development on a lower level than a performance setup? Really curious about this product, cheers!otristan wrote:Well this is already what falcon factory soundbank is aboutoverhishead wrote:looking at Falcon, it ought to be able with very few waveform samples, to recreate most of the vintage synths, and without using tens of gigabytes of samples. just about none of the actual vintage digital synths used more than a few megabytes of samples.

@overhishead you cannot go Reaktor level but you can easily create custom synth with a custom UI.
To give you an example, all our soundbanks (www.uvi.net) are only made using Falcon features available to any end user.

It'd be great to see this demo'ed or broken down with a simplified example in a future video tutorial. I've been wondering how to build a simple but polyrhythmic sort of multi-oscillator beat machine inside Falcon…with different sequencers assigned to each, but all visible together, etc.…?otristan wrote:@overhishead you cannot go Reaktor level but you can easily create custom synth with a custom UI.

Scripting is IMHO not video material as code is not really something which can be well explained in this format.
Checking this example and the whole scripting doc would be way better IMHO
