The delay 'tis okay... I'm still too hungover to make any moosic. :D

I assume we'll see this first in the downloadz section of our esoundz account and then we'll do the esoundz/downloadablesoundz relay race to get all the stuffz.

Either way, I for one don't mind waiting :-)

Squids... how far away are these pyramids? If this is your last day in Mexico City, why don't you actually take a day to enjoy your vacation? I know that getting this GB stuff together is important and stressful, but you should take at least one day (or even half a day) to do some of the things you wanted to do down there. How is your girlfriend handling all this lack of tourism?
Sampleconstruct wrote:Squids, I really appreciate your work and generosity but please don't use the word "should" anymore. Just say: It will be up there at so and so the earliest and you will receive your redeem codes at so and so.
Would you really prefer that word "will" is used when unforeseen circumstances might not allow that reality to materialize? Until you know something to be almost for sure, I think the word "should" is more appropriate. There would be a lot more complainers being vocal about their dissatisfaction if they were counting on something because of a "will" which should have been presented with a "should".

In getting a massive GB like this together, any number of things can go wrong and cause delays... so sometimes you just don't know when exactly something is going to happen until it happens.

Other commitments and draws on your time mean that a missed delivery deadline kind of amplifies the angst. I also had a bad experience with an EH POG2 pedal over the same period and that is now on 6 weeks back order, so the planned music making fest has not gone well so far.
Life is good and I'm not worried ;) :) I wouldn't even say that I have "angst". It's just a missed opportunity for me to enjoy some time off with new sound toyz but ya know, I'm spoiled :P It's impossible for me to feel too ungrateful about anything when 1 out of 10 people here in US are without work :o

These group buys really work and are a win/win for all. I just wish the audio clips AND video demonstrations that inform ABOUT the product would be available BEFORE the group buy begins. As it is, this is the 3rd group buy (that I can remember) where videos are being mentioned and don't materialize (in the end). I'm worried the same might happen here and it makes little sense to me since these vids (as MANY here have mentioned) actually sell the product best. Not all of us are "finger drummers" and I gather a good selection of ppl are in my situation (crossover guitarist/songwriter). We would really benefit from how-to tutorials and examples that show off what's possible and how. Well, I've beat this dead horse before so there's not much point in re-stating the obvious :? Anyway, that's my only complaint fwiw

WARNING: MUST READ

Sorry guys, i just had to get your attention ;)

While we are waiting for some goodies its time to look forward and think how we can get so much fun out of this great sounds from SR.

I've been thinking of this for a while and i think i've came up with a cool idea in which we can have some fun.

Basically i'll post and share with you a drumless song and each one of us will record and also post back the same music but this time actually played with this GB sounds. This way we'll all have some fun but also you can all start building up your drumless songs archive and see how differently each one of us can take the best of this sounds.

I'll post one song per week and a half or maybe 2 weeks. Don't worry i have plenty of them 8)

So what do you guys think? How about you Squids? Wanna to get in in this challenge?

I'm plenty calm. I trust that all will be well in time. I'm just annoyed that my plans have been trashed.

sounds fun...we could have a section for finger/pad drummers (mpd, mpc, padkontrol etc) who've recorded their performance live, no overdubs or quantisation.....

I think that anything we do to support each other will be good.

Thank's SC
That would be nice but it depends on certain things happening. For example, we're having trouble with the jazz kit file that was uploaded which is the option vs. the Infinite Player in the redeem code. Been struggling with it for a few hours and there's some kind of error so it has to be reuploaded differently. However, rather than making people wait even longer at this point we're just going to do the redeem code now and if you choose Infinite Player you get that and if you choose the Jazz kit you just have to wait until it shows up in your user area automatically... and that can't happen until the file is uploaded correctly. Not that I wanted to give all the details but that's why I can't say "will". It SHOULD if all goes just right. But moving large files around like this takes time is all and in a 5 hour upload things can happen (although I think it was to do with zipping it on my Mac perhaps vs. PC... I am uploading the nkx unzipped now for another 5 hours so we'll get to the bottom of that... normally we upload from our T1 at the office which is a lot faster than DSL).

We're doing our absolute best. I am only working like this so everyone can have it as soon as humanly possible. If anyone wants a definitive time for it to be there then check back Monday. By then it will be sorted and we'll all be back on our T1 at the office. As I said, delivering it on a holiday weekend away from the office and making final tweaks to try to please people were two opposing concepts. Realistically, the next business day is the reasonable solution but... we're going above and beyond to try to make it happen sooner. We only ask for your patience.

I understand and we're doing everything we can. If the product was shipped then no one would have it for another week. We'd throw in extras to make up for it but we already have quite a bit! Not sure what else we can do to make it up to anyone. There's even coupons worth the entire price of the product off of other products, there's free extra samples that add up to more than the value of it as well. It's not like we're holding out on anyone or partying it up without a care.

But of course everyone has a right to be disappointed, frustrated or annoyed and yes I know it is because you're excited and want to play with all of this stuff we've been talking about. All of that is actually good. We're glad you care so much that you're anxious. That's another way to look at it. This IS going to be fun and worth the wait.

So, I will check back when I have some more definitive news. The Jazz kit option was tough because that was never released before and ironically that is why I chose the jazz kit in the first place... so that our loyal Infinite Player users in this could choose something they DEFINITELY didn't have. But the flip side of that is that it was the last thing to get done due to other issues and I had it with me thinking "Oh I'll just wrap it up and upload it!". Seemed like a good idea but I couldn't foresee further delays with it because of a corrupt upload. How could I? So I gotta roll with it. REALLY if I was half the Squid I am I'd just say "Sorry we're going to have to resume on Monday". I'd save myself some aggravation and get some much needed sleep. But, the thing is, even if EVERYONE who participated in this thread was to have a poll and everyone unanimously voted to wait until Monday... out of 600+ people unless ALL 600 people said wait until Monday I wouldn't be comfortable doing it. That's how I am. I'm very UN-lazy and despite delays which can happen to anyone I'd at least like to get as close as possible to the original plan.

That said, everyone has their limits... so Monday is the fall back plan. We're still going to try to let this baby out to sea and if we can get Phase 1 out the door (even minus the Jazz kit for now) that will still be a rather large and cool collection of OWD kits to play with. Remember the features are also brand new for everybody so there's going to be some getting use to how it works as well... but we're here to talk about that and guide you through it's powerful possibilities as well.

In summary - let's all try to be positive. Focus on how much it's going to be and what a great deal everyone is getting. It's not everyday that we give away the Farm like this so enjoy it. You'll all eventually get every bit of it. No worries.

Yeah, videos are great. I love them. But of course they are second priority to making sure the product is ready though if it is custom made. I actually swore off doing the custom made group buy (and the last Reason Group Buy wasn't custom made - it was available instantly... just not enough Reason users participated but that deal was sick actually). But the opportunity to do this bundling with OWD literally fell into my lap in November and I had to do it before NAMM. If all went smooth like we thought then we'd have had time to do the videos but instead we had to spend more time on the actual product.

So, to make up for that we extended availability another 2 weeks. In that time I still plan to knock out those additional audio demos per kit (great idea that came up during the group buy for people to have on hand) and also the video tutorials. As I said, in this case the video tutorials for features that will be in a major line of Drum Masters, EpiK DrumS and other Infinite Player drum products are an ABSOLUTE that they will happen. It's just the timing that got botched... and yes it did before as well. Don't hate me Blue. :(

I have been wanting to do video tutorials forever on a lot of things and that is a major focus in 2010 with the release of so many new IP-based products. It didn't make sense to do a Drum Masters 1 or 1.5 video when we knew 2 was coming though. But this is the VERY first release with the version 2 features. So you can see the timing of what comes first the product or the video? The chicken or the egg? The Squid or the ink?

It's a legit complaint though and I can't argue it. But if you look on www.sonicreality.tv you can see a hint of what's coming and if you like videos we definitely have some good ones. More behind the scenes stuff there but tutorials are a bit part of that Sonic Reality TV.

This is all building up to something and Blueman you and some of the others have been a part of the growth of this monster Infinite Player expandable virtual instrument. It makes a LOT of sense but there are various pieces of the puzzle that all come together and all of a sudden many will realize "Holy CRAP, this is amazing". This is a virtual interactive museum of realistic instruments and fx we're talking about. It's great now as it is (plenty of people making records with the sounds from past group buys and Drum Masters 1, OWD etc.) but it is only getting better... not perfect yet but working toward that. Before you know it you will be in video heaven. Yes, if it all possible to have that before the Group Buy is preferable for us too.

Dude, you are seriously an inspiration when it comes to customer service. Every head chef out there should be taking notes! ;)

Stay positive, and sleep for a day or two as soon as Phase 1 is out the door. :hihi:

I keep thinking of all those old cliched sayings that seem appropriate to our situation.

On one hand you have the everlasting rule of all plans:

"The secret of survival is: Always expect the unexpected." Dr. Who

followed closely by the well worn:

"By failing to prepare you are preparing to fail." - Ben Franklin

or the warm and fuzzy:

"Good luck happens when preparedness meets opportunity" - unknown

But the most applicable quote for this situation and what I think Dave is trying to say and quite frankly trumps all:

"$#it happens"

Cheer up Dave - we all understand how hard these things can be. The majority of us understand how hard you are working (quite frankly much harder than many would), I know when delivered, the product will be great and any complications will long be forgotten.
