@stefancrs - Just to flag that imgur is now blocked in the UK as of September ( https://help.imgur.com/hc/en-us/article ... ed-Kingdom ) so all we see is big purple box with the text 'Content not viewable in your region' when you share screenshots

Oh that sucks. Thank you for letting me know!

Does this work?

Yep that works :) Looks nice !

As far as I remember, it was done in Synthmaker, right? Is that forthcoming new version a full rewrite?

Correct, it was. This is written in C++ using JUCE, and I'm developing on Mac. It will be VST/AU and for both PC and Mac.

It's good to see a new drumsynth :)
And I remember the original Smackbox being very punchy !

Did you consider features like :
- A master bus (with a compressor, maybe a saturation or a global eq, etc)
- Dedicated modules (instead of having 8 identical sound generators, having also a module dedicated to hi-hats, another one to snares, etc)
- being able to add a sample layer on top of the synthesized sound
- A step sequencer

Post

This too is punchy. I'm all about that ;)

The only one of those I've considered, and the only one I WILL consider, is adding sample support somewhere in the routing. I don't want dedicated modules, a master bus or a sequencer. The latter two is perfectly handled by the DAW, imo.

Wow! This unexpected return makes me really happy. :)
I still actually use the old one when I need "that" sound. Looking forward to try out this when it is available.

Glad to hear this! I actually don't have access to the old one, so you might be able to tell me if something is really stupid with the new version ;)

Fair enough :)
I understand about step sequencing and master bus.
Thank you for considering sample import. It can be a nice addition on top of sound synthesis.
Dedicated modules are nice for hi-hats, cymbals and experimenting with different sonic flavours imho. But I understand your point of view.

Added some features:
- keyboard pitch follow
- filter env mod
- stereo noise
- preset management
- copy/paste of individual sounds
- click free rapid retriggers...

will have to adjust the UI layout a bit.

+1 for preset management!
It would be great if we could also copy/paste one slot into another (very useful for toms, etc)

By the way, is there any choke (for hihats)?

That's the copy/paste I mentioned.

No, no choke yet, but I'm thinking about how to do it best.

edit: btw, for toms, you can also assign the same sound to several keys/pads and use pitch follow so they get different pitch.

Sorry, I overlooked it

Yes, that's a nice feature to have.
(Just not the absolute best, because if you follow the regular Midi mapping, toms are often mapped to F, G and A, while hats are mapped to F#, G# and A#).

Sorry, I don't follow? The way I have it (also in the old Smackbox) is so you can put sound 4 at F, G and A if you want, and whatever you want inbetween. That's what the numbers on the keys in my screenshots represent, which sound to use for that key/pad.
