Ok, so I have nothing against Reaper (don't use it myself) but I was wondering.

Why do Reaper users always come across like Jehovahs Witnesses cold-calling on a saturday morning?

Honest question. sk

Probably for the same reason Reaper haters always come across like firebrand preachers shouting "Reaper is a devillish device from the deepest chasms of hell ! If you use it, if you like it - you will perish !".

Emotions and convictions. :hihi:

Well for someone with 'very low energy' it ain't too bad, but -

Brent, after a good and long night of sleep and a glorious rise 'n shine tomorrow we expect a novella of reasonable length on the issue in about 16 hours from now.

Issue... what issue? Anyway, I'll read all about it tomorrow.

;)
Haha, if you'll look though, it was my only post earlier. I put all my time I had to post into one post.

I've just been low on energy in general lately. But I can't let that make me stop doing anything, right?

Anyways, I'm at work now, so I'll likely have more time here, since I am not doing any personal projects tonight. You get those freedoms when you work alone in a studio!

Hrm. Except, I haven't seen any Reaper-haters or people saying any such things. ;)

FWIW, I've been often referred to in the past as a Reaper hater. Yet, not once in my life have I ever said that Reaper sucks or that my host is "kicking the crap out of" Reaper, or anything even close. Not once have I said that it's even a bad app, not once have I said that any other host is superior. Yet, there were still those who accused me of saying such things apparently. I've even been called a troll over at the Cockos forums, more then once.

Not that there haven't been people who have been a bit "unfair" towards Reaper, or overly harsh. But I sure ain't one of them, nor have I ever been.

Now, back to work. This post was meaningless. But I'm almost off and don't want to start anything else before I leave. So there you go, my story. Not that it matters.

Does REAPER have anything like a Track Inspector panel yet? After trying to set up 8 audio tracks and 8 MIDI tracks for Kontakt2, I had to just give up as I was totally confused at the similarity between the tracks (even when named elaboratly, which takes up space, and grouped into 2 seperate folders).

In most hosts (i.e., Sonar, Cubase, eXT2, etc.) you have a Track Inspector which, when you click on a track, shows you on the same screen where that track is going, what MIDI channel it uses, which audio output it's connected to, etc.

In REAPER I'm finding I have to keep clicking on "I/O" or "FX" just to find out what's what in any detail.

(possible FR, I suppose)

(thanks to the "Younsoft" theme I can actually enjoy looking at Reaper now ;) )

damn man, because it's so f**king great, i gotta tell people about it...... it's really sweet, even if you just need something to record fast with, i use an external midi tracker with it, but i hope to figure out how to use revisit in it as well..... meh, to each his own, but any host is worth a shot for me (i'd at least like to have as many as possible 4 testing purposes, Maize studio is great too, wire shit up, send midi to effects, rock on.)

REAPER has it's Routing Matrix view which is dockable and easily accessiable via assignable shortcuts. You have your entire DAW routing available to view & reconfigure (on the fly during playback if need be) in one screen view. It's like a virtual patchbay.

Your logic is flawed. Just cos I hate JoHos knocking on my door on a saturday morning, doesn't mean I think all "christians" should be fed to the lions*.

If it makes you feel better, I shall rephrase as
stk wrote:Reaper** users who post on kvr always come across like Jehovahs Witnesses cold-calling on a saturday morning.
* Of course, doesn't mean I don't think that, but I think you see my point :P

** fwiw I've tried teh Reaper, and yeah it's a cool app for multitrack audio recording and whatnot. Pianoroll blows, but (from what I understand) that's not it's main purpose anyway.
