Gforce Software M-Tron Pro

Well, so much for getting it today and posting my thoughts on it. Audiomidi dropped the ball and didn't ship my order yesterday (Tuesday) despite ordering late Monday night with UPS Next Day service.
Edit: Got it today, thank god!
Let me tell you folks: If you loved the original M-Tron as much as I did and still do, you owe it to yourself to check out M-Tron Pro. If M-Tron is (insert graphic sexual encounter here), then M-Tron Pro is (insert graphic sexual encounter times one hundred -- with someone so unbelievably out of your league you should feel guilty for even fantasizing about it).
That's pretty much all I can say, really.
Gforce has hit one out of the park with this one (not that they've ever NOT done that, but seriously, this is my new favorite software instrument).

Maybe you can find some help for an answer in the 4th post of this thread:chrisby wrote:Just wondering if anyone here has both m-tron pro and sampletron? now that it's been out a bit, how do they compare? Just debating which to get (I have the orig m-tron). Thanks for any info...

Thanks for the reply... yeah, I'd checked that thread out (and esp your posts) but there seemed to only be one (or maybe two) people that actually had both at that point. I'm hoping that since it's been a few more weeks that M-Tron Pro has been out that more users will have formulated stronger opinions. I really like the first two sounds on the IK audio samples page and just haven't really heard that in the M-Tron Pro online content I've found. Not that it probably doesn't exist, I just haven't found it. Again, thanks for your reply and also for putting together the first post...

Surprisingly, I've found the M-Tron Pro to be a fantastic complex-drone/texture-creator. It mixes into tracks beautifully without standing on its head and yelling 'look at me!' Lovely. I will be making more use of it than almost anything else.

i havent bought Mtron Pro yet, but i do own Sampletron as well as the old Mtron.
They're both really different. Sampletron is best for gritty dirty Orchestron sounds. It does have a "readio-active" character of its own. however, as far as proper Mellotron tapes are concerned it doesnt come close to the originality of the Mtron, imho. i love them both and i cant wait to order Mtron Pro next month!
oh.. and.. i've yet to hear anything as close to the real thing as M.Pinder's ancient Mellotron sampling cd.

I don't have Sampletron, but I have the sample sets. They are OK. I have M-Tron and M-Tron Pro also and I prefer them as they sound more authentic, but I'm a little disappointed in M-Tron Pro. There's really no difference in sound from the original M-Tron. In fact, the original sounds are more authentic sounding than the newly reprocessed versions. There are still a lot of bad samples that I was hoping would be replaced by resampling some better quality tapes, and there are still several redundant sample sets of varying quality that could be replaced by one good set. Another thing that bugs me is the names of the sounds haven't been renamed to their correct names. The interface is nice and the ability to layer sounds is a plus since that's one function that can be performed on a real Tron (except for the FX console and M300), but I find the envelope and filter to be useless since real Trons don't have them.
I have to agree that the Pinder CD still outshines them all, even though the sample rate is only 22050. It's too bad that the 2nd Pinder CD was never released.

First, thanks to everyone for all the replies... taijiguy's reponse does give me a little pause. I'm not a keyboard player so I more go off presets as my starting point so kind of look for those sounds that jump out at me. I guess without just dl'ing both the demo's I won't know for sure. I'm trying to get in under the wire for the IK 2 for 1 deal though so was hoping to get a landslide opinion one way or another. Shoulda known... anyway, thanks again to all that took the time to reply....taijiguy wrote:I don't have Sampletron, but I have the sample sets. They are OK.
