Thanks gjmair. You guys did a marvelous job designing the Zyklus MPS. It's a unique sequencer still today. And it's build like a tank. I've one here on a loan basis and I'm "stealing" ideas from it, with permission of Bill of course.gjmair wrote:This is very interesting.
I was pointed to this by a friend, been out of the industry for years.
Bill Marshall, was one of the founders of Zyklus, along with myself and
Peter Kellock. I was the MD of the company.
Its gratifying to know that our ideas are finally being taken up.
In some ways I am amazed that this has not been developed sooner.
Given modern hardware, processing power and software tools.
Pete and myself developed the original Zyklus MPS code in about 8 months.
Would be great to have a follow up
Good Luck with the project
And as the moment we speak I'm working on a new version of Improvisor, the project working title is "Zyklus Connect". What's new is sequences are no longer tightly connected to a certain slot/track. There's now a common pool of 16 independent sequencers and each sequence can be assigned to any of the 8 mixer channels. Each mixer channel has a 16-knob input selector to accomplish this, assigning multiple sequences (but each with their own specific play parameters like transpose, velocity offset etc) to a mixer channel are allowed. The GUI is totally overhauled. I've made it more touch screen friendly, but before anyone jumps up, it's still an ordinary Windows program without real touch features, the controls are only bigger, that's all.
