What inspires YOU, Kruddler?

I believe that that's the question you should be asking.

I can give you an opinion on stuff that I own & use: the Arturia V synths (I like them) on U-HE's ACE (brilliant) on the Origin (one of the best hardware synths available) Spark (flexible and great-sounding 'Akai MPC challenger') but I express these opinions to hopefully help you decide for yourself.

Kruddler: If you 'connect' with the Arturia Minimoog emulation, then get that.

Or you can wait, read & learn (this thread has been visited by the gods, btw), try some free softies and demo some of the commercial ones...

And continue to constructively challenge and ask questions like the rest of us...it's an ongoing process

Streuth! The first sentence in that wiki article is almost incomprehensible. :?

I wouldn't have, either, but I now feel totally vindicated for all the DSP vs. native arguments I got into back in 2001 (or even 1998, for that matter). :)

I just checked it and did a first 1:1 comparison with my Moog Slim Phatty.
My first impression: You could forget all other Moog emulations in comparison with Diva... :)
I did not even check how it works as a polysynth (and the other filters) yet.

The CEO of Soniccore told me that even today's bleeding edge systems would struggle to get more than a few voices out of a native Minimax, which means many systems (including my brand new MacBook Air) probably wouldn't be able to run it at all.

Its modelling a monophonic synth and should be able to run on a Sharc based platform such as UAD-2.

Zebra is a better quality VA than any of my Arturias, but the Arturias are good emulations of certain synths, and have some use for that and for their GUIs.

Diva has better VA quality than Zebra. And it has better emulations of Moog, Roland and Korg than Arturia. AND, until Dec 31 it's dirt cheap (not to mention supported by the finest customer service on the planet 8) )!

Thanks for putting a name to it all. :) Though, where his name is mentioned, it seems like the name "Matthias Klag" usually isn't far behind? I figured there would be some connection to John Bowens' hardware Solaris synth..

Just a shame they haven't been seen more on the native side of things, though a search shows they were both involved with the "AIR" engine for Wizoo. That, and perhaps a low awareness of Creamware etc (at least outside of Germany), means perhaps they haven't had a level of general recognition they perhaps deserved (By "general recognition" I mean people outside of places like KVR or who generally take a greater interest in these sorts of things).

If, when Minimax was launched, someone said we'd still be waiting on a better native Minimoog emulation, in 2011, then I wouldn't have believed you. :)
Wow, never knew Klaus Piehl worked on Wizooverb. Wizooverb was definitely one of the better reverbs imo for many years (I hated it when Digidesign aquired the Wizoo team). When i click the 'about' section in the SCOPE Platform's menue of the Live-Bar Matthias Klag is listed under "device development" along with John Bowen and several others. So yes Matthias has done work for Creamware as well. Klaus is listed under DSP-Programming with several others and it is known by some that he is the algorithm guy for the best of the SCOPE's VA synths and most Library modules. I'm quite sure those type coders are quite expensive to keep hence Creamware letting their developers go around the first insolvency and continued on without them, iirc.

EDITED
T2 Icarus is a must. SonicCore SCOPE is the most. As heart of studio it has my vote, cause XITE-1 is all she wrote.

Agree with the quality of Diva. The price will be around 102 Euros here in Germany including VAT so i would not call it "dirt cheap" (Xils Synthix was around 85 Euros at the Group buy and even less for Xils customers) but the price is OK for the quality and features of the synth.
If you compare it to the single synths (not the collection) of the Arturia synths Diva is much cheaper for sure. The price for the Arturia download versions is 220 Euros while the boxed versions are around 189 Euros here in Germany..

I know every new synth that comes out gets a lot of hype, but it is my impression that DIVA actually does set a new bar

$119 for the best available VA is dirt cheap in my book!

The V-Collection is my biggest gear regret yet. I dig the sound alright, but US$400 for crashes and a dongle? I wish I had gone with Zebra 2....

I agree to that (also about the price now...). Maybe we should change the thread title to "Diva vs Arturia". That comparison is almost unfair as Diva will win most of the time, especially when more filter models (and OSC models maybe) are added in the future which is almost sure.
The final stage could be adding all those models into Zebra.

Personally, I'm preferring DIVA over Zebra. It gets the job done quicker.
