Okay here's my idea, the premise is that no one uses a smaller resolution than 1280x800 anymore and that I can use most of the width, is everyone okay with that (does anyone still use a 1024x768 screen for audio stuff?)? The visualisation area is 512x512 right now, how about making it about 20% taller (vertically), roughly 90% wider (so that it would be around 960 px wide) and making the rest (knobs, text) up to 20% larger? The total size limit I'm considering would be around 1240x700 or less, which I guess would be okay on a 1280x800 screen and hopefully not too small anymore on 1920x1080. Or is that too extreme? Right now the interface is 752x576, which is supposed to fit on a 800x600 screen, but it's kind of mad to still take such resolutions into consideration these days.

And before anyone suggests it, no, right now I cannot give an option for different resolutions yet (I will in the major update but not now), there's a big difference between redoing the PNG layout of your GUI and making a GUI that can be resized.
Definitely, yes!

Although I should note that the size of your gui is not nearly as problematic as a similar size for a soft synth. Many of those are unreadable.

But these days, bigger is always better. :D

Also-- Love the SplineEQ, so thanks!

Alright, I tried a new size, here it is in its new (temporary) full size of 1200x656: http://i.imgur.com/6Kgiz9D.png

Wasn't as easy as it might seem, when I started on SplineEQ I had the brilliant idea to use a fixed square format and make it sideways (some basically the default curve was a vertical line instead of horizontal, and gain in the curve would go from left to right) so I'd use the same variable for width and height so they could be interchangeable, so I just had to change all of that, I just hope that didn't create any bugs (doesn't seem so).

That is f-ing beautiful.

Can't wait for this to get zoom done, I'm gonna love being able to make everything shine :)

The new GUI looks really good! Wouldn't mind slightly bigger numbers in the buttons, though.

If it were easy, anybody could do it!

I really like thew gui I am wondering if there are any plans to move to ratas or aax some time in the future I would love to be able to use this plugin in pro tools.

Yeah me too I'm gonna use the occasion to scale everything up by at least 15%, knobs and fonts included. It's a bit too cramped up as it is.

Yep AAX is coming in the next minor release. No RTAS, I have trouble building with RTAS on Mac, there's some dumb issue with includes, I was told it has to do with RTAS being so old and kind of obsolete. I hope it doesn't bother anyone if there's AAX but not RTAS?

ha yea rtas has prehistoric coding to it but that's great I would love to be able to use my favorite linear phase eq in pro tools when I have to master tracks. :D

Any news on the GUI would be appreciated---I'm mulling over buying this and the bigger GUI is a great selling point.

Good to hear (about the bigger GUI being important), though it probably won't be before august as on top of having a new project to release before I can finish SplineEQ's new version, even before that there's a new version of Photosounder coming out. However you might not want to wait for SplineEQ's new version to come out as that's when I'll raise its price (whereas if you buy it now you'll get that update for free anyway).

OK, thanks for the heads up.I have the three band version of the sort-of-legendary Refined Audiometrics LP EQ, which is my go to LP, but the control approach here leads me to get different and interesting results so I may get the full version. The bigger GUI will make using extra bands much easier.

Is there any news on new Spline EQ update?
Brilliant mastering EQ.

Photosounder should create one channel EQ, and I am convinced that will be in the top.
High sound quality is only what matters for me, and that is the same product goal of Photosounder.

Cheers

No news, still working on Spiral (although I'm kind of having a writer's block). A one channel EQ? As in mono? I don't get it.

I mean zero latency channel stereo and mono EQ. Probably IIR.
IIR filters can be easily designed to sound like analog filters.
Something like Pro-Q or else, but flexible like Spline EQ. Thought.

Oh, yeah I was considering doing that as an option, I might still do that. It would be still FIR based though, which I'm not sure has been done before like this in a plugin with totally custom curves (for a minimum-phase EQ that is), but I know how to do that, in theory at least.
